The Young and the Restless has a new lawman on the scene. Matt Cohen has made his debut as Detective Burrow, who gave Nick and Sharon info on Noah's accident. Now, the actor is giving additional insights into his role.
Det. Burrow, The Young and the Restless
Cohen told Soap Opera Digest that he had been looking for an opportunity to return to soaps (he was Griffin on General Hospital a while back) for some time. "I read the audition, and I had been wanting to play a very similar role to this for a long time,” the actor said.
Cohen says that Det. Burrow is good, bad, and everything in between. Right now, Burrow is investigating Noah's (Lucas Adams) car wreck, which he says was not an accident.
Joining Y&R has reunited Cohen with some familiar faces, including Michael Graziadei (Daniel). The two had produced a movie when Cohen first started his career in Hollywood. He knows Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) from her time as Nina (now played by Cynthia Watros, ex-Kelly, Y&R) on GH. Hayley Erin (ex-Kiki, GH) is now on Y&R, too, as Claire. He also knows Tamara Braun (ex-Kim, GH), who is now Sienna Bacall on Y&R. "It's a bunch of old friends getting to play around on the stage again," he says.
Break a leg

Cohen concedes he had some first-day jitters on the Y&R set. He feels that if he's not nervous on his first day, then he just may be doing the wrong thing! The actor says he was welcomed with open arms by folks at Y&R.
While Noah's fighting for his life, Cohen paid a real-life trip to a hospital not that long ago. He injured his Achilles' tendon while playing tag with his son, Macklin, 10. (Macklin's mom is Mandy Musgrave, who played Chelsea on Days of our Lives.) Surgery was required to repair the damage. Cohen credits The Young and the Restless directors for shooting around his injury using creative measures so that his injury will be minimized on-camera.
Cohen is looking forward to seeing what's next for his character. "I can't wait to tell the audience," he says. The actor is waiting for stories to break.
