Cane said there’s no way to confirm that the dagger Nick showed him and Phyllis was the same weapon that killed Cane. Nick felt there was no other conclusion to be made. Phyllis suspected that someone was trying to frame Nick. He agreed. Nick told Chance where he found the knife (under his sink). Chance asked if the bottle of bourbon was there. Nick said it wasn’t. He accused Cane of being behind it all. Nick urged Chance to start looking at this whole mess. Nick asked why Cane didn’t hire a private security team and/or call the local authorities. Why would Cane invite everyone into his home? Phyllis said maybe Cane was planning a trap. Nick asked where that trap was.

Nick suggested that Cane bumped off Damian so he could get Lily back, and by framing Nick with the weapon, he could get control of Chancellor Industries. Chance and Phyllis said that they didn’t buy Nick’s theory. Phyllis wondered why Cane would devise such a complex plot. Nick wasn’t happy that his ex-wife sided with Cane.

Phyllis vowed to kill anyone who tried to frame Nick for murder, but she’s not sure why Cane would kill Damian. She pointed out that nobody knew Lily and Damian were getting close. Nick revealed that Adam had come up the mountain and let them all know that Cane was buying up property in Genoa City. He said Cane has a colleague in Genoa City. Nick added that Chelsea told Adam she ran into Cane in Genoa City. Chance couldn’t believe there was a way in and out of Cane’s estate. Nick surmised Cane wants to keep everyone trapped there so they can be under his influence.

Chance was open to Nick’s theories, but he said they needed proof. Nick pointed out Cane could have accomplices like Amanda and “that weirdo Carter.” Phyllis said Amanda would never do anything like frame Nick. Chance said if Nick was not guilty, then he had nothing to worry about. Chance pointed out it was Cane’s turn to come clean.

Amanda and Cane argued in the courtyard. He explained to his attorney his last moments with Damian. Cane asked Amanda if she thought he killed Damian. “I believe that you are the person with the strongest motive and, in my experience, you will do whatever it takes to eliminate the competition,” Amanda responded.

Amanda pointed out how the whole situation looked, referring to Cane’s dagger killing Damian and Cane’s bourbon drugging Damian. She wants to make sure no one can prove he killed Damian.

Phyllis joined Amanda and Cane in the courtyard. She inspected the drinks before making herself one. Phyllis commented that Amanda and Cane’s silence was potentially incriminating. She hastened to add that she didn’t believe Cane did anything wrong. Cane noted that Damian’s killer was trying to kill him (Cane). Phyllis said Nick found the weapon, and he brought it to Chance as would any innocent man. Phyllis said Nick has a feeling as to who is framing him.

Amanda wondered what Chance was thinking. Phyllis said Chance just wants facts. Phyllis said she made it clear to Chance and Nick that there was no way Cane could have planted the weapon in Nick’s cabin. Cane appreciated Phyllis backing him up with this story. Phyllis reminded Cane that she’d betray Nick, but she did not agree to sit by and watch Nick be framed for murder.

Phyllis told Cane that no one has it out for Nick. Amanda noted that an innocent man wouldn’t hesitate to go to the authorities. Cane hoped Chance would have answers. Phyllis suggested that they launch an investigation of their own.

Lily dried her eyes. She looked at the bed she slept in with Damian and began having flashbacks to their earlier meetings. Lily cried and said she was so sorry. Then, Lily recalled in flashbacks meeting Dumas (AKA Cane). “Hello, Lily,” Cane said. She recounted their meetings when they talked about their kids, but he refused to come clean about his double life as Dumas.

She wondered how he became a billionaire in six years. He maintained he was legit, and Lily had his word on that. She was not impressed. He said he’d explain more later. Cane said he understood Lily was angry. Included in the flashbacks was a scene in which Lily told Cane that they were not getting back together, and she kissed Damian. Next. Lily found Chance at her door. He wanted to know if she was up for a talk. “You better believe I am,” Lily responded.

Chance said he didn’t know Damian, but he believed him to be a good man. Lily said he was amazing, even though he had issues like everyone does. Lily informed Chance that Damian’s mother had had cancer and that Damian was looking forward to a new life in Genoa City. Chance said Lily could take a moment if she needed, but Lily said she wanted to get justice for Damian. She said that there was only one person who wanted Damian dead – and that person was Cane!

Chance asked Lily when the last time she saw Damian alive. Lily recounted being with Cane, Amanda, and Damian, and Cane learning that Lily and Damian were a couple. Lily recalled pulling off the sheet and seeing Damian’s body. Chance asked Lily if Cane was ever possessive or violent. Lily said yes to the former, but no to the latter. Lily said Cane is a different man now. Lily said she thinks Cane killed Damian because he thought that if he could not have Lily, then no one would.

Chance said he didn’t see the logic there. Why would Cane risk everything by killing Damian? Lily offered that Chance has a better understanding of the male ego than she does. “I am convinced that Cane did this,” Lily said, adding that Cane needed to pay.

Victor was trying to find a four-letter word for “irritant” and quipped that “Cane” had to be the answer. Then, Nikki woke up from a nightmare about her children. Victor asked Nikki about her dream. She recounted that she saw Victoria and Nicholas overlooking a chasm. Victor said it sounded frightening. Nikki revealed her heart was still racing.

Nikki said it was maddening not being able to get a hold of Victoria when she needed her. Victor kissed Nikki. She added she was worried about Chancellor Industries. Victor said he’d go after anyone who came after him.

Victor said he hated nothing more than to see Nikki upset. He said that soon, she’ll be home and reunited with Victoria. Then, Nicholas showed up at their door. He informed them that Cane had made his next move, and it was a bloody one. Nick informed his parents that Damian had been killed and that Cane was framing him because the knife was found in his bathroom. He said the knife was in a bag and he brought it to Chance.

Nikki said this lined up with her dream. Victor said Nick was being set up. “Cane has a much more compelling motive,” Nick pointed out, referring to Cane’s feelings for Lily. Victor said it was nonsense to pin the murder on Damian. Nikki noted that Nick barely knew Cane. Nick said he wanted to protect his mother, but Nikki said he wouldn’t kill someone over Chancellor Industries.

Victor said it made no sense that Cane, for six years, was playing the long game. His actions now appear reckless. Nikki said someone needed to do something before someone else got hurt.

Nick and Cane ran into each other in the maze of shrubbery. Cane vowed on his father’s soul that he didn’t plant the knife in Nick’s room. “As if he had one,” Nick scowled. He told Cane he’d soon wish he were the one who was dead.
