On the Tuesday, July 22, episode of The Young and the Restless, Victor ordered Cane to release Nick and Sharon, Kyle informed Jack and Diane about his deal with Victor, and Michael and Lauren tried to figure out what Cane was doing.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Carter led Nick and Sharon to a dumpy room. Nick asked that Sharon be let go. Sharon said she had nothing to do with Damian’s death. Carter said there’d be a delicious casserole for their meal later. He locked the door. Nick pounded on the door and shouted.
Sharon had a black and white flashback to being trapped in the room in which Martin held her. Back to present, she told Nick there was no way she was going to let him be led away by himself. Nick pointed out that people know they’d been taken away. He told Sharon he’d protect her. Nick couldn’t believe he dragged Sharon on this getaway. Sharon joked it was a minor miscalculation of Nick’s part, hoping to lighten the mood. Sharon confessed that she wasn’t as calm as she might look. Nick banged on the door again. Sharon said it’s better to be locked up with someone than to be alone. “Even Phyllis?” Nick asked. Sharon hesitated before saying that yes, even Phyllis.
Nick pointed out to Sharon that this hasn’t been the first time they’ve been locked in a room together. Nick joked that Cane might be mad at Nick because he didn’t invite him to all his weddings. Sharon wondered if Cane was just messing with their minds. Nick said he had an agenda, but he didn’t know what it was. Nick added that Cane was cunning and shrewd. Sharon agreed with Nick that having so many friends with them hasn’t helped them with Cane.
Nick suggested that Cane has some kind of master plan. Sharon suggested Cane was holding them so that he could get Chancellor Industries. Nick recapped Cane’s actions, including that he bought up real estate in Genoa City. Nick banged on the door again to try to get out. Sharon started to panic. Nick comforted Sharon by reminding her of the time they spent in London with Christian, Faith, and Noah on a bus. Sharon noted that she was trapped again against her will, and this time, Nick was in danger. Sharon hugged Nick after he promised that nothing would happen to her.
An anxious Audra ran into Victor in a train cabin while looking for Chance. Victor told her not to leave. He reminded her of the deal they had, and he wanted to know if there were any updates in her relationship with Kyle.
Audra tried to calm Victor by updating him about Cane wanting to do the perfume competition with Audra and Kyle. Victor asked Audra why she hadn’t lit the fuse by now. Audra anticipated Kyle blabbing that he’s on to her by telling Victor that Kyle might think he has the upper hand. Audra promised Victor he’d get his results.
Then, Michael interrupted them and asked to speak to Victor as he had pressing news. Victor told Audra that if she didn’t deliver by this evening, then all bets were off. Michael quipped he wasn’t going to ask what that was about. “None of your business,” Victor quipped. Michael told Victor that their current situation takes priority over their recent conflict.
Michael told Victor that Carter and an armed guard put Nick and Sharon under house arrest. Victor asked where Cane was. He wanted to know if Chance knew about this. Michael offered to go with Victor to confront Cane and give him legal advice, but Victor stormed off on his own.
Next, Lauren showed up, relieved to find her husband. Michael updated her on his meeting with Victor. An agitated Lauren shouted that Victor knows nothing about loyalty. Michael told Lauren about Victor going off to confront Cane. Lauren doubted keeping Nick under house arrest was legal in France or anywhere.
Michael recalled that Cane had plans and that he’d need Michael to execute them. Lauren guessed that’s why they were there. Michael wondered if Nick’s house arrest was part of a bigger plan. Michael pointed out that Cane wanted Chancellor Industries. Lauren couldn’t understand why Chancellor was the big end game when he had his empire. Michael theorized that there’s a connection between Colin, Jill, and Chancellor Industries. Lauren wondered what the secret that may exist could be. Michael didn’t know, but he suspected there was more to Cane wanting Chancellor than met the eye.
Lauren noted that Victor wasn’t the only person who’d get riled up if their child was in danger. She asked Michael if there was anything he could do to get Sharon and Nick released. Michael said his hands were tied until the police arrived.
Nikki wandered throughout the maze of shrubbery and found Cane. She confronted him over Nick being taken by his security team. Cane passed off Nick’s confinement as something his team and attorney recommended. Nikki demanded that Nick and Sharon be released. Nikki blasted Cane, saying that if Nick wanted Cane dead, then he wouldn’t have hidden the knife in his room. Nikki furiously informed Cane it was one thing to go after her company, but it was quite another matter to go after her children.
Cane told Nikki he’d release Nick and Sharon once Cane came up with evidence that Nick is innocent and the police arrive. Nikki accused Cane of setting Nick up. “You are holding my son hostage!” Nikki shouted. She reminded Cane that he had isolated everyone, and he was treating Damian’s death as a game. Nikki asked how Cane became ruthless and evil — just like his father.
Cane asked Nikki not to talk about Colin. He claimed that he didn’t want any of this to happen. Nikki yelled that Cane only values what he can get out of people. She asked what he wanted in exchange for her son’s freedom. Their debate was interrupted by Victor. “Cane Ashby! Look at me!” Victor hollered.
Victor demanded that Nick and his friend Sharon be released. He said Cane didn’t want to find out what would happen if he didn’t comply. Victor asked Cane if he was holding Sharon and Nick against their will as a bargaining chip to get Chancellor Industries.
Cane said that he wanted to stay alive. Victor accused Cane of killing a man (Damian) and blaming Nick. “He wouldn’t come after you, you know that,” Victor informed Cane. “You release him or else you’ll have hell to pay.” Then, Carter interrupted them and whispered something into Cane’s ear. Cane excused himself and left. Then, Victor exited, too.
Jack and Diane filled Kyle in on Nick and Sharon being led away by Carter and a man who appeared to work in security. Diane was glad to see that Kyle was okay. Kyle shared that he called out Audra on her scheme to dupe Kyle. He said he dropped the hammer, and now he has to make sure she’ll never recover.
Kyle revealed to his parents that Audra came on to him. He assured his mother and father that he resisted. Kyle said Audra used Damian’s murder as a ruse to get close to him. Diane asked why Audra would risk her relationship with Nate. Kyle said it’s because she’s vile.
Jack asked Kyle why he didn’t reach out to him and Diane for help. Kyle said he knew what he was doing. He knew that nothing he or Claire did was going to change Victor’s mind. Kyle said he had to do what he did. Diane asked what Kyle promised Victor. Kyle revealed that he told Victor that if he ever hurt Claire, then he’d pay him $5 million and leave Genoa City – and he put it in writing. He added that he’d never break Claire's heart. Diane theorized that Victor enticed Audra to try to seduce him so he’d fail to live up to the contract.
Kyle couldn’t figure out why Cane thought Nick wanted him dead. “This whole trip is insane,” Kyle offered. Diane pointed out that Victor will be furious when he finds out that Cane took Nick. Jack urged Kyle to stay away from Victor.
Kyle said that Victor had gone too far, and Kyle's anger should not be underestimated. Then, Carter walked by Jack, Diane, and Kyle. Victor passed them next and told Kyle he didn’t have time to talk to him as he continued after Carter. Jack urged Kyle to stay away from Victor.
