Nate took Amy to Chancellor Park. She marveled at what a glorious day it was. Amy thanked Nate and his doctor friend. She said she wanted to stick around. Nate was sad that he had to break the news to Amy that Damian was dead, killed by Carter over in France.

Amy went on a bit of a nervous talking jaunt. She recapped that Damian was over in France and didn't meet his boss until he became his ex-boss. Nate started to tell Amy what had happened. "It's not easy to say," Nate said. Amy feared that her cancer had returned based on Nate's mood. She asked him to tell her about Damian. "Damian died, Amy," Nate said. "Your son won't be coming home."

Amy flew into denial. She said that there was no cell service. Damian couldn't be dead because she didn't get a call. She insisted on talking to Audra. Nate repeated that Damian was dead and that he was so sorry.

Amy didn't think Damian could be dead because he wasn't sick. Nate shared that Carter killed him. "What did my son ever do to that man?" a devastated Amy asked. Nate explained that Lily and Damian got close during the trip. Amy said that her son died because he cared about Lily. She asked to see Carter. Nate informed Amy that Carter had taken his own life. Nate explained that Dumas is Cane, the father of Lily's children. Amy said Damian couldn't be gone because she was still there. "He's not dead," Amy cried out as Nate held her.

Nate said that Lily believed Cane when he said that he had no idea what Carter was thinking or planning. Amy said she just didn't get it. She remembered the last time her son hugged her that he meant it. "It was everything that I wanted," Amy said. She blamed herself for being greedy. If she had not come forward, he never would have met Lily. Nate said it wasn't her fault. "This is not how it was supposed to be," Amy said. Nate said Damian was grateful to be reunited with her. "It wasn't enough," Amy said of the time she had with her son. Nate said they would mourn him together, and later, they'd remember him with stories. "I don't want memories," Amy cried. "I want my son! I want my son!!"

Chelsea, Adam, Claire, and Victoria gathered at Crimson Lights. Vicki thanked Chelsea and Adam for understanding about the delay with Cole's service. She added that Nick should recover soon. Vicki added that she was glad that one brother was there with her.

Adam made a dark humor joke. He passed it off as a reflex. Adam added that, according to Victor, Cane never revealed his true motives. Vicki wondered if Dumas being Cane made him more unpredictable or less.

Adam theorized there was something more to Cane's plan than just a plain old acquisition. He wondered if Cane was dropping hints. Chelsea suggested to Claire that they go on a walk. The two women left, leaving Adam and Victoria alone. Adam said he wasn't going to let anyone take anything from their family.

Adam offered to help Victoria. She asked her brother when he had developed empathy. Adam credited Chelsea and Connor with that. Adam said Cane has stones, taking on Victor. "Or he's insane," Vicki quipped. Victoria commented that Cole wouldn't want her to let her guard down, so she'll be ready for Cane. Adam told his sister that he'd listen to her eulogy for Cole if she wanted. Not every discussion they had had to be about corporate raiders.

Claire thanked Chelsea for suggesting the walk. Claire commented that Adam has been a great source of support for both her and her mom. Chelsea noted that Adam has felt rejected or shoved aside in the past. "He's trying, I can see that," Claire said. Chelsea said they were both heartbroken for her. She added that it was up to Claire whether she wanted to talk. Claire asked if they could just sit for a bit. The two women sat on the bench.

Chelsea said that there have been times when she feels lonely. Claire told Chelsea that Jordan told her her family didn't want her. Chelsea said her mom was not that extreme, but she could understand. Claire said she was broken, but the love she received from Victoria and Cole helped fix her. She wondered if Cole deserved more time with her. Claire said it wasn't fair. Chelsea said Claire was robbed, but she was also given a gift. Maybe she could try to focus on that.

Chelsea recounted to Claire how helpless she felt after Connor was diagnosed. She came to realize Connor's OCD wasn't a punishment. It made him a miracle. She noted it was a lot different than Claire losing her dad. Chelsea pointed out that the beauty and tragedy of life is that they don't get to choose what happens to them. Chelsea added that Claire may forget details, but she'll never forget Cole's love for her. Chelsea and Claire returned to Crimson Lights. Vicki told Chelsea that Adam credits her with his empathy.

Adam and Chelsea returned to Adam's office and recounted their talks with Vicki and Claire. Chelsea noted that soon, Claire would have Kyle back. Adam observed that there was no future for Kyle and Claire. He noted that Victor will never let that relationship continue.

Meanwhile, Claire and Vicki returned home. Claire noted that her mother and Chelsea had a complicated history because of Johnny. Vicki noted that Chelsea had not had it easy. Claire said it was nice talking to her about how special Cole was. Victoria was glad that they had had that conversation. Claire asked if her mother knew Cane Ashby. Vicki said she didn't know him as well as she thought. She suspected that Cane had something to prove to the world. Vicki predicted it won't end well for Cane. Claire and Vicki commented on Adam trying to reach out. Vicki said if the family business is all she and Adam ever have in common, then that would be enough.

Thousands of miles away in France, Cane joined Victor in the main cabin car on his train. He wondered if everyone made it down the mountain safely. Victor wondered if Cane meant other than the people who died, referring to Damian, Chance, and Carter. Victor informed Cane that the Newmans don't go down easily.

Cane claimed to have enormous admiration for the Newmans. He said the missteps were on him. "Who else would they be on?" Victor asked. Cane claimed "Aristotle Dumas" was dead. Victor claimed that only a weak man assumed another man's identity.

Victor pointed out that three men were dead while Cane was alive, and that would be his legacy. Cane said he would have gotten Carter help if he'd known. He started to leave. Victor ordered him to sit down and called him a punk. He asked Cane if he knew who he was dealing with.

Victor told Cane he had nothing to gain by returning to Genoa City. He said no one wants him back there. Cane countered that he had conversations with Billy about his coming back. Victor was not impressed. He shared with Cane that he knew about the real estate acquisitions he'd made.

Victor warned Cane that his mouth would get him into trouble. Cane said he wanted peace, but if Victor wanted a fight, then he'd get it. Victor said he loved a challenge. Victor recounted to Cane that he had kept Nick a prisoner when it was Carter who was responsible. "I'm not your rival. I'm your worst enemy," Victor stated. He warned Cane not to come near his family if he comes to Genoa City.

Victor called Adam from France. Victor said they weren't on their way home yet, as Nick wasn't released from the hospital just yet. Adam said the memorial for Cole was on hold until they all got back. Adam suggested they talk strategy. Victor said that Cane was working with "Billy Boy," and together, Victor and Adam would crush them. Victor hoped that going after them would sit well with Chelsea because Cane had declared war.
