What happened on The Young and the Restless

At Society, Devon and Nate recapped a business deal they were working on when Lily came in and announced she had just met Damian and offered him a job. Devon was immediately against the idea, but Nate had questions. Lily lied and said that she had no motive in the job offer, but then fessed up that she did have a plan to get Damian to prove his trustworthiness by leaving Aristotle to come work at Winters.
Nate told Lily he didn’t need to hear anything further. He reminded her that she had promised to stop trying to pry into Damian and leave it up to him and Amy to work through moving forward with him. Lily said that she had agreed to that before Aristotle Dumas became a factor. “Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer,” Nate mused. Lily noted that Damian had said the same thing and wondered if the two brothers were now in sync.
Nate said that he and Damian had grown closer in Boston and he didn’t want to lose that because of Lily’s offer. He thought it made it look like Lily saw Damian as the enemy. “But I’m not,” Lily insisted. Regardless, Nate felt that if he and Devon jumped to that suspicion, then it was possible Damian would as well. “I don’t like that for my brother,” Nate added. Nate hoped that Damian would say no to Lily’s offer.
Devon agreed but wanted to hear Lily’s plan anyway. Lily explained that if Aristotle had plans to come after Winters, then Damian could get that out of him, and it would be part of the job offer that he would have to. Lily was determined not to be in another situation of losing the company, and thought that Damian was their only opportunity to prevent it.
Devon knew that Lily was still upset about what Nikki and Victor did but thought it worked out for the best now that she was happy at Winters. Lily said if Damian was happy with her offer, then he’d show it to Dumas. Aristotle would then think he had an inside man, and Damian would share that. “You want my brother to be a spy?” Nate wondered. Devon said that the plan would work if they could trust Damian but wasn’t sure they could. Nate interrupted. He said that his brother already felt like his life had been one big lie and now they wanted him to tell one of their choice. “No, I’m not going to let that happen,” Nate said firmly.
Lily assured Nate that she wasn’t trying to use Damian. Devon thought she liked Damian too much. Nate wasn’t sure they could trust Artistotle in any way and wondered what happened to Damain after the dust settled. Lily assured NAte that Damina would dstil have a spot in the family business. She said family was first and business was second.
Later alone, Devon and Nate discussed Lily’s idea to bring Damian to Winters. Devon didn’t like that Artistotle sounded like a threat, but wasn’t sure if the plan was a good one, either. Nate agreed but also didn’t want to have Winters be subject to any corporate problems, something they’ve all gone through before.
At Crimson Lights, Damian caught up with Holden about his trip to Boston with Nate and how they bonded while away. He also told her about spending some quality time with Lily after he got back. Holden noted that things were moving quickly for Damian in Genoa City. Damian thought Holden wanted him to carry a grudge.
Holden insisted he just didn’t want Damian to get hurt. Damian said he was appreciative of how loyal Holden had been to him and thought he could repay him by putting Holden in charge of the divisions he ran for Dumas. Damian explained that he was offered a job at Winters, and was considering taking it but that would mean that Holden would have to take his place in L.A.
Holden was upset. He didn’t want Damian to be tricked again, and wondered if Lily’s job offer was legit. “That doesn’t track for me,” Holden said. He knew Lily didn’t trust Damian so why bring him into the family business? Holden pointed out that Damian had received a fake job offer from Winters before.
Damian insisted that Lily wasn’t playing him but admitted it was a loyalty test to see how far he was willing to go. “Getting rid of a solid job and crossing Dumas is pretty damn far,” Holden noted. Damian explained that Lily feared Dumas was coming after Winters but Damian knew that their boss would never share his plans with them. “But if he wants Winters, then he’ll go all in. There’s always a way to get what you want if you want it bad enough,” Damian said. Holden wondered if he meant Dumas or Lily.
Damian assured Holden that it was a business decision, but noted that it would be a great opportunity to work with someone like Lily given her resume. He felt that Holden was ready to take his spot. Holden wondered if Dumas would trust him like he did Damian. They joked how Holden would inherit the Yankees tickets that came with the position.
Holden wasn’t sold on the course of action. He wanted to look out for both of them. Holden got the sense that Damian lost trust in Dumas, and by bailing to Winters and leaving Holden in his spot could be throwing him to the wolves. Damian reminded Holden that he could say no but he knew the job and had all the info to decide. Damian told him to take his time, and reminded him that he didn’t even know if he was going to make the change anyway. After Holden left, Damian called Lily and said he wanted to discuss her offer and what he had decided.
At Newman Media, Chelsea was upset about Victor’s conversation with Adam before she even heard the details. Adam knew she wanted to defend Billy. She was horrified that Victor wanted to use the company to do another smear campaign against her ex. Chelsea thought it was about her, that Victor wanted to challenge her loyalty by seeing if she’d attack Billy through the company.
Adam assured Chelsea it had nothing to do with her, but putting family against one another was Victor’s pattern. Adam told Chelsea that Victor was concerned about Aristotle Dumas coming after Chancellor, and he had an agenda to protect it and Nikki. Chelsea wanted to know if going after Billy was Victor’s idea or Adam’s. Adam told Chelsea it was his father who issued the marching orders, so Chelsea asked Adam to promise her that they would never use Newman Media to take down Billy.
Adam wasn’t impressed that Chelsea had jumped to conclusions, and her immediate reaction was to defend Billy while attacking Adam. He wondered whose team Chelsea was really on. Chelsea pointed out she wanted to help people with the media company, not hurt them. Adam agreed with her vision and wanted to work with her about that. Adam told Chelsea that Billy didn’t need his help to self-destruct and said he wouldn’t use their platforms to go after him. “But I reserve the right to go after our family if Billy comes after ours,” Adam added.
Adam wondered why Billy was in touch with Aristotle Dumas. He explained to Chelsea that he was a billionaire in the shadows, came out about six years prior, and made his fortune in real estate. Adam said no one knew who he was or if he really existed. Chelsea didn’t recall Billy ever mentioning the name, just that he was upset about losing Chancellor. Adam suggested Billy was working with Dumas for revenge.
Chelsea appreciated Adam saying he wouldn’t go after Billy with the company, but she wondered if working with Adam was a mistake. She thought things would be different, but Victor would always interfere. Adam interrupted to say he had changed, and he wanted to be someone Connor could be proud of. Chelsea wondered if her working there would put their family at risk. Adam asked her to believe they could make Newman Media as amazing as they were as a couple.
At the Genoa City Athletic Club, Billy took a seat at the bar. Victor was at a nearby table and spoke up to let him know he was there. Victor asked Billy about Phyllis leaving the company already and how he knew that Sally was taking her spot. Billy gave him little to no information, but wondered why Victor was taking pot shots at Sally as well. Victor didn’t like her with Adam and thought she wasn’t good enough, but also didn’t want her with Billy. He told Victor he hated people for no reason and reminded him that he was the father of Victor’s grandchildren. “You’re constantly picking a fight with me and have an obsession with tearing me down. Why is that?” he wondered.
Billy took a seat at Victor’s table and reminded him that after all of Victor’s attacks, he was still standing. “Count your blessings. It won’t be for long,” Victor growled. Billy pointed out that he wasn’t afraid of Victor, and wondered if it was Victor who was intimidated. “Why don’t we try something new?” Victor suggested instead of answering. Billy guessed Victor wanted him to leave town. Victor sarcastically said Billy could stay in Genoa City a while longer. “Thanks. Very generous of you,” Billy scoffed.
Victor wanted to know what Billy talked to Aristotle Dumas about. He knew that Billy had a meeting planned, and it was canceled. Billy suggested that Victor just tell him what deal he wanted to make. Victor growled that if Billy told him what he had planned with Dumas, Victor wouldn’t do another smear campaign about him and his new company.
Billy asked if Victor was going to have Adam the Puppet put out a hit job on him through Newman Media. Victor warned Billy that he could see things coming and said he wouldn’t want to be caught between two juggernauts. He told Billy to get out of the way and not be involved with Dumas. “You stay out of this fight,” Victor added.
Victor left, and Billy called Dumas’ office to set up another appointment as soon as possible. “You tell Mr. Dumas this meeting is going to happen. It needs to happen now,” he said before hanging up.
Meanwhile, Victor went to see Adam and asked if he had gotten Chelsea on the same page. “We were just talking about your request. I think it’s the wrong approach. I have an idea on how to handle Billy and Aristotle Dumas,” Adam told him.
