Things might not have worked out for Lachlan Buchanan on The Young and the Restless, but the actor will have more important fires to put out in the weeks to come. Literal fires. Like actual fires.
Buchanan has joined the cast of ABC's primetime series Station 19.
"Look ma! I'm putting out fires now," Buchanan quipped in a post on Twitter.

There isn't much known about Buchanan's Station 19 character. His uniform reads "Dixon," and some sleuthing has revealed that the character's first name is Emmett. There's already been a firefighter with the surname "Dixon," and since there are rarely coincidences on dramatic television series, there's a good chance that Buchanan's character will be related to Chief Alvert Dixon.
Executive producer Paris Barclay teased that the ABC series' newest addition is "a probie with a LOT of secrets played masterfully" by Buchanan.
A "probie" is a Probationary Firefighter, also known as a rookie firefighter.
Buchanan appeared on The Young and the Restless as Kyle Abbott from February 2015 to October 2015 as a contract player. For the six months that followed, Buchanan appeared on Y&R in a recurring capacity before ultimately appearing for the last time on April 26, 2016.
Since leaving Y&R, Buchanan had guest roles on TV series that included Criminal Minds, Fuller House, and NCIS. He also had a role in the Academy Award-nominated film Ford v Ferrari.
Buchanan makes his first Station 19 appearance on Thursday, March 5.
