Tom walks downstairs and overhears Lien talking on the phone to someone at her old firm in D.C. She tells them that she knows it is a wonderful offer but she has made commitments in Oakdale. She then tells them that they are not business commitments and she does appreciate the offer. She hangs up the phone and Tom walks in and says that it sounded like a wonderful offer. She tells him not to start in on her. He reminds her that she doesn't have to marry Ben. She tells her father that Ben saved her life and she wants to pay him back. The doorbell rings and Lien goes to the door. Ben is there and she gives him a deep, long kiss. Ben says that he should go out and come in again. Lien tells him to come on in. Tom leaves the two alone. Ben tells Lien that he knows that she knows what he did to save her life. He tells her that if she wants to back out of their engagement, he will understand. She tells him that she wants to marry him and she won't be backing out. They start to kiss again and Ben's beeper goes off. Ben tells her that he has to go, but he will be back later and they will talk about the wedding plans. After Ben is gone, Lien loses the smile on her face and says, "Why did you have to do that?" Tom walks in and Lien says that she doesn't want to go another round with him. Tom reminds her that she will be cheating Ben if she thinks that she can learn to love him.

At the hospital, Barbara is dressed in black with a big hat and veil. Ben brings her some painkillers to take with her and she refuses. She tells him that she wants all her wits about her. Her security guard starts to push her out of the room and she tells him to stop. She says that she only wants Paul behind her. Paul pushes her out into the hall and Barbara tells him that she wants to make a stop first. Paul asks where it is that she wants to go. Barbara tells him that she wants to stop and see Julia. She adds that they have a lot in common and she wants to inform Julia as to what she is going to do. Paul pushes Barbara into the psychiatric ward. Julia is glad to see Barbara. Barbara tells her that she is going to go to court and she is going to use the witness stand to expose Carly for the self-indulgent slut that she is. She tells Julia that she is going to get revenge for them both.

At Hal's house, Emily is in her robe and she is serving coffee to a junior detective. Hal walks in and asks what is going on. The detective tells Hal that Emily is trying to get information from him, but he keeps telling her that all the information is classified and he is not on the case. Hal dismisses the detective and Emily yells as he leaves that if he changes his mind just call. She will be at Hal's all day. After he is gone, Jennifer walks in and asks what is going on. Hal tells her that Emily is trying to obstruct justice. Emily asks Hal where all the names of the suspects are and he informs her that he turned them over to the Oakdale police so they can do their job. Emily tells him that she can't believe that he did that after all the work that they did. There is a knock at the door and Emily tells Hal that she knew the detective would have a change of heart. She opens the door and Nancy and Kim are standing there. They both raise their eyebrows and Kim asks, "What is this?" Nancy informs her that Emily has been spending a lot of time with Hal. Emily tells her to stop talking about her like she isn't in the room. Emily leaves to go get dressed and Hal tells the ladies that he and Emily are investigating the explosion together and after Emily's attack, she needed a place to stay. Kim tells Hal that she has a police scanner and she knows about Emily's attack. Kim tells him that she would like to report on the incident, but if he thinks it is not a good idea, she won't. He tells her that he would appreciate it if she didn't report where Emily is staying. Kim and Nancy tell Hal that they stopped by to get some of Barbara's things to take to her. The ladies get what they came after and leave. Emily comes down and she is dressed and she has her suitcase with her. She tells Hal that she is leaving and he tells her that she is going to stay with him. He reminds her that someone is out to get her and they know where she lives. She decides to stay with Hal a little longer. There is another knock at the door and the detective is back. He hands Hal a big white envelope and tells him that he doesn't know if it will help, but he did get some information for them. After the detective leaves, Emily grabs the envelope and looks through the contents. She tells Hal that it is all medical lingo and she can't make heads or tails of it. She says that the only thing that she can tell is her attacker is O positive. Hal tells her that it is not about the blood; it is what is in the blood. Hal looks at the report and tells Emily that the attacker was on a psychotic drug. Emily tells him that if they had their list they could probably narrow it down. Hal looks at her and says, "Let's go get our list back."

At the courthouse, people are starting to arrive for Craig's trial. Molly is there with her camera crew and she tells the cameraman to be ready when Mr. Montgomery comes in. When Craig and his lawyer walk in, all the media race to ask their questions. Molly is there first and she asks if he is sticking to the comments that he made during their last interview. Craig tells her that he is not changing a word. Cass tells Molly that that will be all the questions that they will be answering. Cass drags Craig off to a corner and tells him that he will not speak to the media until after the trial is over. As they are talking, Carly walks in and the media race to ask her questions. Cass rolls his eyes and comments on her red dress that she is wearing. Craig is staring at Carly and Cass tells him that is the last time he will look at Carly. He adds that if he looks at her like that in court, the jury will surely find him guilty.

As the trial gets underway, Jessica starts her opening statement. She tells the jury how Craig is obsessed with money and power. She goes over his history with marrying Sierra, Lucinda Walsh's daughter and how Craig became a part of their family and tried to take over Lucinda's business. She goes on to talk about Craig pursuing Barbara Ryan because she is a very rich woman. She holds a picture of Barbara in front of the jury and reminds them what Barbara looked like and then she says that Barbara will show them what she looks like today. Paul wheels Barbara into the courtroom and all eyes are on Barbara. Cass gets up for his opening statement and he ends by saying that he will prove that the defense can't prove Craig's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. He adds that he understands that someone must pay for what has happened to Barbara, but they have the wrong man and they will prove that. The judge says that they will take a ten-minute break. When Cass sits down beside Craig, Craig tells him that he did a good job. Cass tells him that he doesn't think that the jury even heard him because they were looking at Barbara the whole time.

Molly walks up to Carly and asks if she is doing okay. Carly says that everything will be all right because the security pictures of she and Craig kissing are buried and will not surface. At the front of the courtroom, Jessica is looking at the picture of Carly and Craig kissing. Jack walks up behind Jessica and asks her if there is anything that he needs to know before he takes the stand. Jessica closes the file folder and says that she has everything that she needs. After the break, Jack is called to the stand. Cass questions him about his life before he was an Oakdale detective and he questions him about his personal life and he has Jack point out his girlfriend. Jack points to Carly and says that he is involved with Carly Tenney. Cass questions Jack about how he feels about Craig Montgomery and Jack tells him that he doesn't like Craig. Cass questions Jack about the night that Barbara called him and wanted to meet him. He asks Jack why he wanted to meet Barbara at the boathouse and not at the police station. Jack says that he wanted to make Barbara feel comfortable and since Craig's sister, Margo is the chief of police he didn't want to meet her at the station. Cass asks if he had questioned anyone else about the explosion. Jack says that he hadn't. Cass says that he has nothing further. Jessica calls Barbara Ryan to the stand. The courtroom starts to buzz. Paul wheels Barbara to the front of the courtroom and helps her to the stand. The bailiff swears Barbara in and then tells her to state her name. Barbara says, "My name is Barbara Ryan."

Lien is staring at her engagement ring when Ben arrives, excited about planning the wedding. He tells her that everything inside him is telling him that this is right. She informs him that she's having second thoughts. Ben refuses to listen to her, telling her that he gave her an out and she chose to marry him. She confused their friendship for something else, she says. He blames Tom for her change of mind. Lien apologizes and tells him that what she feels for him isn't enough. Ben gets angry when Lien tells him that he ambushed her by proposing in front of her family. He yells that it's not his fault and wonders what her answer would have been if he'd waited for a couple years or asked her in private. Lien asks to be the one to explain to Curtis. Ben agrees, and storms off, ignoring Tom as he enters. Lien crys in Tom's arms, and father and daughter agree that she should take the job in D.C.

Hal pulls Margo out of the courtroom, saying he has proof that Craig may be innocent. Emily explains that her attacker didn't fit Craig's height or blood type, according to the lab results. Em and Hal share what they've uncovered and their theory that there's a nutcase out there responsible for the attacks on Emily and Barbara. Margo wants to know how Hal got the lab reports and angrily informs him that it's now inadmissible in court. She wants to know if Hal can link Emily's attack to Barbara's. He says he can if she returns the files to him. She enters the courtroom without answering him.

Jessica tells the jury about Barbara's medical condition. Barbara testifies about how her family and friends warned her not to marry Craig and his unwillingness to sign a prenuptial agreement. When Jessica asks if theirs was a happy marriage, Barbara tells the jury that Craig stole millions from her corporate account. When she confronted him, she told him the marriage was over, meaning that he would lose access to her money. She testifies that she was scared, and Craig was angry, then tells of the events leading up to her arrival at the boathouse. She states that when she went into the boathouse, she saw Craig waiting for her. Barbara says that she doesn't remember what she said to him, but goes into great detail of the explosion - blinding light, glass cutting into her, and how she thought she was going to die then and there. She says that she was then in the dark for a long time, until she heard Paul's voice calling to her, when she woke up from her coma. When asked about Craig taking control of BRO while she was in the coma, she snarls ' He made his whore the designer' while glaring at Carly. Cass tells Craig that he's going to have to go after Barbara with a vengeance, judging by the jury's reaction.

Cass cross-examines Barbara, making her admit that money was an issue in her previous marriage as well. He notes that the profit margin at BRO was diminishing under Paul's leadership. Cass spins a different tale than Jessica did - Craig invested money from BRO and quadrupled it - for his wife. He starts to ask questions about the night at the boathouse - What was Barbara wearing? What route did she take to get there? She can't answer and gets more upset. She finally loses it, standing to face the jury and screaming that what she remembers doesn't matter, what matters is what Craig did to her. She takes off her veil, showing horrible burns. Everyone stares in shock & horror at Barbara's face. Barbara is horrified when she realizes that Jennifer is in the courtroom and has seen her injuries. Bryant takes Jennifer back to his house, trying to calm her. She admits her jealousy that Barbara only seems to want Paul around. Bryant asks her to move in with him. She agrees.

Carly tells Jack that there's not a jury that wouldn't acquit Craig after Barbara's performance. Molly & Carly are secretly thankful that there aren't any pictures of Craig & Carly's kiss. Margo gives Jack the lab report. Lucinda tells Craig that she hopes he finally pays for all the things he's done. Craig stuns the courtroom when he makes Cass stop discrediting Barbara. Craig tries to apologize to Barbara, who tells him to go to hell. After being accosted by a photographer, Barbara tells Paul that she never should have gone into the courtroom. Molly advises Carly not to explain herself or defend herself on the stand and to be brief. Jessica smiles to herself as she looks at the pictures of Craig and Carly.

The Munson House:
Jennifer and Bryant talked about living together. Jennifer said she would have to get a job to help with the living expenses. Bryant told her she didn't have to do that. He said that he had to leave and was going to check on some places for them to live.

Hal was mopping the floor when Jennifer walked in the kitchen. He told her that mopping was therapy for him. Jennifer complained about Barbara showing her face in front of the courtroom crowd but still pushed her away. Hal tried to convince her that Barbara is not herself and that she has to heal on the inside as well as the outside. He told her that Barbara does love her very much. Jennifer told him she knows changes are inevitable and she is ready to strike out on her own. She told Hal that she's moving in with Bryant. Hal talked about how bad he felt when Nikki left and now she wanted to leave too. He tried to change her mind about moving out. Jennifer said she's not changing her mind. She said that Bryant loved her and she is not throwing that away like Barbara did when divorcing Hal. Hal told Jennifer he's going to miss her around the house. Bryant knocked at the door. He and Hal discussed the living arrangements between him and Jennifer. Hal wanted to know where they were going to live. He told her it's not far from town and that he came, hoping that Jennifer would go with him to check out the place. When Jennifer went to her room to get her purse, Hal warned Bryant that if he ever harmed Jennifer, he would wish he never had. Bryant said he understood.

Lucinda's House:
Lucinda and Bryant talked about Craig. He told her that he'd never be like his dad. He said he wanted to have a life with Jennifer. Lucinda asked if Jennifer changed her mind about him using his trust fund. Bryant told her that Jennifer doesn't know. Lucinda told him that she is smart and will want to know where he was getting the money for them to live together. Bryant said he told her he was working for WorldWide. Lucinda said she wouldn't lie for him but she wouldn't tell her either. She tried to convince him that it would be less taxing on him if he really did work for her instead of lying about it. Bryant told Lucinda that he'd think about working for her, but right now that he was going to find a place for Jennifer and him to live. Lucinda told him that she knows of a place that was out of the way on a dirt road, but was close enough to town for them. He said it sounded perfect. He ran off to tell Jennifer about it.

The Church Tower:
Luke asked Holden if he thought they had peanut butter in Malta. Holden knew that Luke was hungry. They wondered where the Friar was and if he was part of the game. The Friar returned and told them a friend was coming that night to help them. He brought them bread and cheese. He offered it to them but Holden wouldn't let Luke eat it even though Luke said he was hungry enough to eat a moose. Holden asked how a Friar that lived in poverty could have a gold watch that was worth a lot of money. The Friar told Holden that he had a keen eye. He said that the watch was given to him as gratitude by a patron. Holden didn't believe him and wanted to know who he really was. The Friar said he and his friend could help him. Holden said they didn't need help from a liar. When Holden told Luke they were leaving, the Friar tried to stop them. Holden and the Friar fought and the Friar fell down the stairs. Holden told Luke that the Friar didn't have a pulse. He told Luke that it wasn't really a game, that everything that happened was real. Luke said he thought so but didn't want Holden to worry. Holden told Luke that the Friar was one of the bad guys and was probably going to try to get a ransom for them. Luke asked why Holden wanted to stay there when the Friar's friend was coming soon. Holden said he was counting on that and when he got there, he was going to get a surprise. Luke wanted to know how they were going to surprise him. Holden told him he would put the Friar's robe on and then he would get some answers from the Friar's friend.

The Opera House Balcony:
Lily found that it was Dante that sent her the note to meet him and not Damian. She was angry and wanted to know where Luke was. He told her Luke and Holden were in a safe place. She didn't believe him and said if he knew where they were; he wouldn't need to meet with her. Dante told Lily he has lots of people looking for Luke and Holden and they would find them very soon. He said that Luke is a Grimaldi and would inherit everything and he would get nothing. Lily was shocked when this was all about money. She told him that Luke has more money than any child alive and there was nothing that the Grimaldi Empire could give him that he doesn't already have. Dante said that one day Luke would be curious and things could change. He said the only way to make sure that things didn't change, was to get rid of Luke. Lily told Dante to name his price; she would give him anything to spare Luke's life. He wanted to know how far she would go to save her son. She said she would do anything. He told her she was a brave woman. She said she wasn't brave, just a mother that loved her son. She said his own mother must love him that way too. He said his mother was a whore, a rich man's concubine. Lily told him, she was sure that his mother still loved him. She begged him to save Luke's life. He said his mother never cared for him. When Dante had a knife at Lily's neck, she begged him for her life and told him that Damian would hunt him down for killing her. She said that Damian would give him everything to save her and Luke. That's what Dante wanted to hear. She realized that it wasn't her or Luke that he wanted, he wanted Damian. He said that he will find Holden and Luke and he would deliver them to her, only if she delivered Damian to him. Dante told her that she has one week to get Damian to meet him. He said it's Damian's life or Luke's life. Lily wanted to know why she should trust Dante, but she said she would do what he wanted. When he started to leave, she asked about Simon and Katie. He said they were useless and he would let them go when the time comes that he gets Damian.

Opera House Storage Room:
Katie asked Simon what was going to happen to them when they left Malta. Simon told her that they had other things to worry about, trying to get away from the men that have them imprisoned. He told her to try to break through the wall and he would listen for the men when they come back. As Katie rattled on that he would probably leave her behind and not keep his promises to her, he began kissing her. Katie wanted more kisses. Simon told her when they got out of the wall; they would be leaving together. He said when they get back to Oakdale; they would take it one day at a time. They heard Lily screaming. Simon told Katie to not be jealous because he wanted to help Lily. Katie pounded on the door to get the attention of the guard, she told the guard that Simon left and didn't take her. When the guard had his back to a closet where Simon was hiding, Simon grabbed him and pulled him in the closet. Katie listened as they fought. Simon came out and had the guard's gun. He said they had to leave in a hurry. As they ran in the hallway, several gunshots are fired.

Molly told Jake her suspicions about her old boyfriend Nick's sudden reappearance in her life and the resurfacing of her old mug shot. She also came clean with Kim who was doubtful that Nick was the culprit but assured Molly that she would have a talk with Nick tomorrow. Kim gave Adam an internship to work at the station for part of his college credits.

Jack tried to reassure Carly that everything would go well in the courtroom tomorrow and together they practiced her testimony. Much to Paul's dismay, Barbara insisted on being in the courtroom for Carly's testimony. So it wouldn't be a surprise to her in the courtroom, Jessica showed Barbara the photograph of Craig and Carly kissing on her wedding day. Barbara was stunned but gloated that Carly would soon get what was coming to her.

Cass admitted to Craig that he was worried that Carly's testimony in court tomorrow could possibly be damaging to their case. Craig told Cass not to worry--everything was under control.

Lily continued to search for Luke while Dante held him and Holden at knifepoint in the next room. Luke escaped from one of his captors and ran to his mother but was dragged away before he could reach her. As Lily was running to find her son, she was stopped by Dante who put a knife to her throat and refused to tell her where he was taking Luke until she helped him kill Damian.
