Horribly disfigured, Miles was sent to live in an institution by his family, and knew nothing but the institution until Spencer Truman performed surgery to correct his disfigurement and left him his entire fortune. Now out in the world for the first time, Miles is experiencing all of his firsts -- first date, first time being drunk, first love. While some of Llanviews citizens cannot get past his connection to Spencer, others, like his therapist Marty Saybrooke, find his child-like innocence quite refreshing.
