The 2020s may go down as the year when many American celebrities moved out from the country. From iconic talk show hosts with decades of watchtime to rock-and-roll stars and even celebrity chefs, the decade has already seen many celebrities packing up and starting a fresh across the globe.

With their destinations ranging from the rollings fields of Ireland to sun-soaked Tuscan villas, here we count down the six popular celebrities who traded the United States to a life overseas.

Among the first to make headlines for her proposed plan of moving out, the fairly outspoken comedienne and actor relocated to Ireland with her 12-year-old child due to 'political differences' with President Trump, who had even threatened to strip her off of her American citizenship. The New York-native had been critical of the Trump's policies which prompted her to seek citizenship in the country of her heritage.

The Hootie & The Blowfish frontman turned country star surprised everyone when he announced his departure from Nashville's speakeasy vibe for London's cosmopolitan cred. Rucker, who has been very vocal about his love of his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, announced the move in January. His three children are still based out of United States.

Once Hollywood's most sought after leading man, Richard Gere has been quietly building a new life in Spain with his family recently. In an attempt to step away from Hollywood's glare, he and his wife, Alejandra Silva, moved out of USA and now reside in Madrid to embrace a slower rythm to raise their young children Alexander and James, and to be closer to her family. Gere reportedly sold his $11 million Connecticut home early this year. He continues to own his countryside house in New York.

Widely regarded as one of the prolific power couples of showbiz, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi left their California life for the idyllic countryside of Cotswolds in England. The couple is restoring a historic property and focusing on sustainability projects. Interestingly, DeGeneres had also claimed of being 'pushed out' of Hollywood before she eventually moved out.

Splitting her time between Spain and Mexico, actress and entrepreneur has often expressed her cultural ties to both regions and has been vocal about wanting her son to grow up 'surrounded by' diverse languages and traditions. Interestingly, in a Marie Claire interview she credited President Trump for her move but later 'backtracked' on her statement on The View. Longoria started the shift in 2023 with buying a villa in Marbella, Spain.

After decades of high-paced American television, the beloved onscreen chef found solace in Tuscany. Rachael Ray and her husband, John Cusimano, have shifted their lives to Italy, where they tend to their garden, cook local produce, and enjoy the simplicity of small-town living. While Rachael has 'completely' moved out and now describes Italy as her true home, Cusimano travels across the pond regularly for work commitments.
