While Avengers: Doomsday is currently filming in the United Kingdom, the MCU movie received some major updates this week. That's because the people involved in the movie gave more information about the MCU project at D-23 on Saturday, August 30, 2025. But that was not the only reason why Doomsday has been in conversation in recent weeks. Hemsworth also hyped up fans two weeks ago.
Actor Chris Hemsworth, who has been a part of the MCU since 2011, recently provided fans with an insight into what they can expect from Thor in the upcoming Avengers movie. He sat down with Etalk to promote the Disney+ series Limitless: Live Better Now. In that interview, Hemsworth and the host Traci discussed Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to release in December 2026.
What did Chris Hemsworth say about Avengers: Doomsday?
Etalk interviewed actor Chris Hemsworth two weeks ago, in which the conversation veered towards the upcoming Avengers movie. When the host of the talk show, Traci, asked Hemsworth if he was sharing fitness tips with his fellow Avengers: Doomsday cast members. To this question, the Australian actor responded that he was not aware of whether his fellow cast members wanted his tips or not:
“I didn’t know that they wanted to hear them. I could try to offer them up. It’s just great to be back. You know, when we parted ways on the last film, we didn’t know if we were going to be doing this again and here we are."
After that, Hemsworth spoke about his return in the MCU through Doomsday. The actor's exact words were:
"Some of the old crew, like myself, and the new folks are coming in, and it’s wild to sort of consider that it has carried on this long, and the opportunity to still in habit this Marvel world, this space, it's pretty special. If I told the younger version of myself this is what I'd be doing, he probably wouldn't have believed me."
While Hemsworth might be playing nice, it should be noted that the actor has been playing the God of Thunder for at least 15 years and feels a bit of connection with Thor. Moreover, fans are also excited to see Hemsworth in Doomsday as Thor is the only original Avengers member in the movie. While the internet is rife with rumors of Bruce Banner and Peter Parker's involvement, they haven't been confirmed as of now.
What do we know about the upcoming Avengers movie?
Initially referred to as Avengers: Kang Dynasty, the movie was retrofitted as a Doctor Doom story after Kang actor Jonathan Majors was fired from his role after he was publicly accused of abusive behavior. This change was publicly confirmed in July 2024 at the San Diego Comic-Con. It was also officially announced that Tony Stark actor Robert Downey Jr. would be playing Doom in the movie.
Cameras started rolling on Doomsday in April 2025, and it is expected to continue for the coming months. At D-23 this week, the Russo brothers teased the scale of the movie. Disney presented behind-the-scenes footage from the set of Doomsday, which the directors of the movie said:
"Hi D23 members, this is Joe and Anthony Russo, right now we are in London shooting Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. This movie is to say the least, a big one for us. It is bigger than anything we have ever done. We are bringing together so many of your favorite heroes to face one of the greatest threats to the MCU."
Avengers: Doomsday was initially supposed to be released in May 2026. However, it was officially delayed to December 18, 2026.
