Cha Eun-woo, the popular and rising K-drama star, is making his official comedy film debut with First Ride, a highly anticipated project. He will co-star with a talented group that includes Han Sun-hwa, Kim Young-kwang, Kang Young-seok, and Kang Ha-neul, who is currently winning people over with Tastefully Yours.
Nam Dae-jung, who is well-known for his popular romantic comedy Love Reset, is the film's director. The story revolves around four lifelong friends who are now in their 30s. They anticipate fun and relaxation when they choose to travel abroad for the first time, but instead, they experience an erratic, crazy journey full of heartbreaking discoveries and crazy moments.
For Cha Eun-woo, this is a big project even though he has appeared in past films such as My Brilliant Life and Decibel. But First Ride is his first leading role in a film and his foray into comedy. Shooting began in March 2025 and was highlighted at the Cannes Film Market.
What is First Ride About? A road trip, friendships, and total chaos

First Ride is essentially about four friends who have grown up together and decide it's time to take a trip overseas. However, their eagerly anticipated vacation doesn't turn out as expected.
They deal with mishaps, cultural shocks, and personal problems they weren't ready for in a place of tranquility. Since they are all in different phases of life, the journey ends up being a life-changing event for them all.
Cha Eun-woo portrays Yeon Min, a DJ from a small town who has never ventured outside of his comfort zone but aspires to perform on a global scale. He frequently serves as the film's focal point and infuses the group with both innocence and energy.
As previously mentioned, the film is directed by Nam Dae-jung, who promises to add a perfect balance between heartfelt, relatable and humorous moments. Given his prior success with Love Reset, viewers can anticipate First Ride to be both heartfelt and humorous.
Meet the cast: Cha Eun-woo, Kang Ha-neul, and more stars bringing the fun
One big reason First Ride is so much fun to look forward to is the cast and the fact that it's an interesting mix of actors. Cha Eun-woo plays Yeon Min, a character who is passionate about music; although he has big dreams, but has no real experience to back them up.
Kang Ha-neul plays Tae Jeong, the group’s well-trained and well-raised perfectionist. He complements the wildness of the trip with his serious demeanor. Kim Young-kwang is Do Jin, the former basketball player who used to have big dreams but is now lost.
He and Yeon Min have had an emotional connection, and their bond leads to some key developments in the storyline. Kang Young-seok is playing Geum Bok, a quiet, thoughtful friend who embraced religion early in life. He's best known for his calmness and for bringing some philosophical depth to the group of friends.
Han Sun-hwa joins the crew as Ok Sim, who comes along with tons of confidence. Ok Sim adds her own spark to the already energetic group. With her bold personality and quick wit, she brings a fresh layer of humor and warmth to the story, kind of like a playful scene-stealer who keeps everyone on their toes.
