The box office opening of Justin Tipping's HIM does not seem to have met its expectations. Released on 19th September 2025, the film has till now garnered a domestic collection of $13,500,000, as recorded by Box Office Mojo.

The horror film was originally expected to collect $18 million in its opening weekend, but there seems to be a drop of 5% in the current numbers from what was initially projected.

Produced by Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions, it follows the plot of how a football mentor puts his pupil on a horrifying path of murkiness. The film stars Marlon Wayans, Tyriq Withers, Julia Fox, and many others.

The freshly released horror film HIM has not succeeded in making a mark in its commercial performance.

Since its release, the film has garnered a global collection of $13,862,000. On its first day, domestically, the film collected $6.47 million. It was lower than its previous projection of $15 million. Originally, it was expected to collect $18 million, but seeing its current numbers, the projection took a 3% dip. Even with its new projection, the film has not succeeded in achieving that.

In the current box office charts, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – the Movie Infinity Castle tops the list with a whopping global collection of $555,000,000. In its second week, the Japanese animated film garnered $17.3 million. That makes HIM arrive at its second position in the commercial ranking.

As per Variety, the horror film was made on a budget of $27 million. However, looking at the current numbers, it seems that the film could have difficulty recovering revenue in regard to its budget. It at least needs more than $14 million to meet its budget.

But things get more difficult because the film has not impressed the critics and audiences as well. On Rotten Tomatoes, the horror film has scored 27%. Its Popcornmeter rating is a lukewarm rating of 58%. It has also landed with a 'C-' Cinemascore.

Its critical and audience rating is even lower than A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which has an RT score of 36%. Even though both of these films have the same Popcornmeter score, its Cinemascore is B, which is higher than the score HIM garnered.

The Margot Robbie-Colin Farrell starrer, with a collection of $3.5 million, lands in its 6th position in the list. But the Justin Tipping film, despite having a lower rating than this film, has done comparatively better at the box office. So, hopefully, in the coming days, it may succeed in crossing expectations and recover the budget mark.

In response to the poor reviews, Marlon Wayans made an Instagram post. In the post, he pens his thoughts about it, where he states:

"Just to be clear…
I respect critics. Their job is to Critique. I respect their work. It shapes our industry. But an opinion does not always mean it’s everyone’s opinion. Some movies are ahead of the curve. Innovation is not always embraced and art is to be interpreted and it’s subjective. I’ve had a career of making classic movies that weren’t critically recieved and those movies went on to be CLASSICS. So don’t take anyone’s opinion just go see for yourself. Love to all. Him in theaters now."
