21 Savage recently tried to mediate between Gunna and Young Thug, taking to social media on December 17, 2025, and tagging the two beefing rappers, stating:

"Yall ni**as fix that sh*t yall love each other, Ni**a you knew gunna wasn’t no gangster when he told the first time and we swept it under the rug for you you know he wasn’t tryna leave you to hang ni**a f**k the streets we ain’t get sh*t but trauma from that sh*t."

Young Thug then responded to the message with an agreement, echoing Savage's sentiment about the streets. Subsequently, this back and forth led to a greater debate in the rapper community, with Tekashi 6ix9ine chiming in to state that the sentiment of the streets brought up by Savage only applied to some people.

Rapper Meek Mill also chimed in, stating in a now-unavailable X post that rappers should be careful to prioritise their real family over the streets. Now, 21 Savage has elaborated on his viral comment. Speaking in a recent livestream, Savage addressed the comment, stating:

"I'm supposed to say, 'save the streets.' We gotta save the streets. We gotta get all the bulls**t, all the crazy killa s**t out of there and put the love and the hustle back into the s**t..."

As per Rolling Stone, 21 Savage had previously also elaborated on the meaning of his viral comment in a now-deleted Instagram story post:

"When I say f**k the streets, I'm talking about the part that gave me trauma and made me can't sleep at night.. if you aren't tired of that part, you ain't been through it."

Presently, it is unclear what the results of this mediation effort by Savage are. Gunna and Young Thug have been involved in a beef ever since the YSL RICO case began.

It escalated after Gunna took his plea deal, something which Thug seemed to hold as the real reason the case became a RICO case in a leaked jail call. Gunna has confirmed that he is leaving the YSL record label, with his 2025 album, The Last Wun, being the last to be released through the label.

21 Savage tried to mediate between Lil Baby and Gunna

21 Savage has also tried to mediate in the feud between Lil Baby and Gunna, tagging the former in another X post and asking that he admit what was going on and sort his differences with Gunna:

"You one of the realest young n***as out this shit admit slime was moving the goal post and we was standing behind him cuz we love him my brother."

Savage also tried to put his two cents towards having Migos reunite, tagging Quavo and Offset in another X post:

"@QuavoStuntin @offset yall n***as tell the world I put yall on group text and told yall squash it before it even got far n***a if yall was still together yall would be unstoppable."

The streets are one of the central themes of 21 Savage's newest album, What Happened to the Streets, which he released on December 12, 2025. The rapper addresses online rap debates as well in the album.

The album has received mixed reactions from critics, with FADER criticising the album as a dead-end record where the rapper has run out of ideas. Clash Magazine also criticised the record for its usage of an R. Kelly sample. However, publications like NME have rated it more positively.
