While Superman did contain a Batman easter egg, we did not get any update on the Caped Crusader's DCU movie, The Brave and the Bold, as of now. The only thing we learned about the movie is that the script for the movie is still under development. This was confirmed not once but twice in the past week, as both WBD CEO David Zaslav and DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn confirmed projects headlined by the Caped Crusader and Wonder Woman.
On July 10, 2025, James Gunn sat down for an interview with Argentinian radio station Urbana Play, in which Gunn revealed that both the DCU Wonder Woman movie and the Batman movie The Brave and the Bold will move forward only if the script is complete. This is something Gunn stated even in the past, and given Superman's reception, DC seems to be sticking to Gunn's insistence on a completed script.
What did James Gunn say about the DCU Batman and Wonder Woman projects?
As mentioned above, James Gunn was interviewed by Urbana Play on July 10, 2025. Gunn discussed the yet-to-be-released Superman with the interviewer, but the interview gradually moved towards the Caped Crusader and Wonder Woman and when we could meet them in the DCU.
To this, Gunn responded, stating that cameras will begin rolling on Wonder Woman and The Brave and the Bold only after the completion of the script. Gunn's exact words were:
"It’s not gonna be ’till the script is ready. Both of the scripts are being written now, and if they’re good, then we’ll go to production immediately. So, it really depends on how we can get the scripts done. Because the one thing I’m just not gonna do is go into production without a script I feel is fantastic — especially for those characters, who deserve the best. I’d rather wait a year than go too soon."
We already know that Gunn is working on the script of the DCU Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold, along with an unnamed writer. In the June 2025 edition of Rolling Stone, James Gunn revealed that he was having trouble with this universe's version of The Dark Knight.
But it doesn't mean the Caped Crusader is away from the big screen for a long time. While we wait for the DCU version of the World's Greatest Detective, Matt Reeves completed the script for The Batman: Part II.
Even David Zaslav confirmed the development of Wonder Woman and the Caped Crusader's project:
Three days after James Gunn's interview, WBD CEO David Zaslav was interviewed by the NY Times on July 13, 2025. In this interview, Zaslav touched on the success of Superman. While doing so, he also reaffirmed that Wonder Woman and Caped Crusader projects were being developed at DC Studios:
"Our biggest strategic opportunity was that DC was underdeveloped. Now we have Gunn and Safran firing with a 10-year plan. ‘Supergirl’ has already been shot. They’re working on Wonder Woman. They’re working on Batman."
Considering the scripts are being written, we have to wait for a while until they are completed.
