As Avengers: Doomsday is still under production at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire, fans continue to speculate who is in the movie and who isn't. It should be noted that only half of the Doomsday cast was announced on March 26, 2025. Therefore, it is expected that the second half of the Doomsday cast will be announced soon.
However, one of the biggest casting speculations of Avengers: Doomsday started this week on August 12, 2025. That day, Wade Wilson/Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds posted an image of a defaced Avengers flag that was also used in a fleeting moment in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, Reynolds's posting this image again has fans speculate whether he is a part of Doomsday or not.
According to The Hollywood Reporter's Newsletter, Deadpool will appear in Avengers: Doomsday:
As of August 16, 2025, it is not official that the Merc with a Mouth is a part of Doomsday. But Borys Kit and Aaron Couch's latest The Hollywood Reporter newsletter, published on August 15, 2025, shone a light on the status of Wade Wilson's involvement in Avengers: Doomsday. Here is what the newsletter says regarding Deadpool's role in the upcoming Avengers movie:
"Early on Tuesday morning, Ryan Reynolds ignited speculation that Deadpool would finally get his dream and share the screen with the Avengers, when he posted an Avengers logo that had been vandalized with graffiti (something Deadpool would do). Sources tell Heat Vision that yes, Deadpool will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. (Don't expect him to actually be joining the Avengers team, though.)"
Therefore, based on the newsletter's words, it seems that fans will see Deadpool in Doomsday, but he probably won't be joining The Earth's Mightiest Heroes. If Reynolds is indeed a part of the movie, then Doomsday might finally answer why Thor was crying as Deadpool was supposedly about to die. This moment is one of Deadpool & Wolverine's most asked questions.
However, Ryan Reynolds' recent tease from August 12, 2025, may hint at one of the most-awaited Marvel announcements since March 26, 2025.
Rumors state that the second half of Doomsday's cast will be announced this month:
As mentioned earlier, Marvel announced only half of Doomsday's cast members in March. Rumors have been circulating amongst Marvel's fan circles that the second half of Doomsday's announcement will be announced next week, on August 27, 2025. However, it should be noted that it won't be surprising if Marvel did announce the other half of the upcoming Avengers movie's cast on the said date.
As for the possibilities of Marvel confirming the announcement date are slim, considering the March 2025 announcement came out of nowhere. Therefore, it means that even if a similar stream were to happen, it would follow the pattern of the first live stream.
However, it is also possible that we may get some Marvel news regarding the Doomsday cast announcement at the D23 Expo, which is scheduled between August 29 and 31, 2025.
