Teddi Mellencamp's Encino home reportedly targeted in recent burglary attempt

Famous TV actress Teddi Mellencamp has recently been in a fiasco. As per the reports by TMZ, her home in Encino, Los Angeles, was the scene of a burglary attempt on Monday night, July 21, 2025. Two people reportedly tried to break into the house while her family was present. Thankfully, their alarm system came to the rescue, which scared the burglars even before they could enter.

The police arrived soon after. By then, the intruders had already left. Up until now, there have been no reports of anything being stolen. The alarm system did its job, and Teddi Mellencamp's family called the police right away.

The reports by ABC News state that on Monday at around 10:15 pm, the alarm went off and Teddi Mellencamp's family called the police. The burglars ran away before police arrived, and the police suspect that the burglars might have entered through the garage. They did not get far inside before running off and fleeing in a black BMW. The suspects are allegedly two men wearing black hooded sweatshirts.

As per ABC News, the same people allegedly had just tried to break into a neighbor's house before coming to Teddi Mellencamp’s home. Luckily, no one was hurt during the incident.

Teddi Mellencamp is best known for her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She is also the daughter of singer John Cougar Mellencamp. She lives with her children and her then-husband Edwin Arroyave in Encino. They share three kids, Slate, Cruz, and Dove. Edwin also has a teenage daughter from a previous relationship.

In November 2024, Teddi Mellencamp filed for divorce from Edwin after 13 years of marriage. They have not finalized it yet. Despite the divorce, Edwin has stayed supportive, especially during Teddi Mellencamp’s cancer fight. She is going through treatment for stage 4 melanoma, which has spread to her brain and lungs.

This is not the first time a burglary has happened in Encino this month. The reports by Good Morning America state that just a week earlier, a couple was shot and killed during a break-in at their house in the same area. A man named Raymond Boodarian has been charged. That case has made many in the neighborhood feel unsafe.

Residents have been calling for more police patrols in their community. Over 200 people attended a meeting on Monday night to ask for better safety measures. The LAPD says they are working on that.

As mentioned in the reports by Fox 11 Los Angeles, other Real Housewives stars in Encino have had similar scares in the past. Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley both had break‑ins at their homes in recent years. That adds to the worry for families living in that area.

The police are still looking for the men in the black hoodies who drove away in a BMW. So far, no arrests have been made, and no more details about the break‑in have been released.
