On October 17, Denise Richards’ estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, was taken into custody. This occurred during a hearing regarding Richards’ restraining order against the actor from The Leap. The arrest was made due to a felony warrant that the State of California filed against him a few days earlier. A bail amount of $200,000 has been set. Meanwhile, Phypers’ legal representative, Michael Finley, shared a statement with People magazine regarding this, saying:

“I have not seen the criminal complaint yet, however, based upon the little that I have been told, it appears to be the same allegations we're already fighting and I think proving to be false in the domestic violence case. So, we expect it to also be proven false and for him to be exonerated.”

According to the outlet, the actor faces four charges. He has been charged with two counts of causing physical harm to a partner or spouse and two counts of deterring a witness forcefully. For the uninitiated, Denise Richards alleged that Aaron Phypers was abusive towards her. She was granted a temporary restraining order against him, which will continue until November 7, as per court orders.

Meanwhile, Finley also explained that when a criminal case starts, all the evidence isn’t fully reviewed yet. He said that many cases are filed but later dismissed, so just because a case exists doesn’t mean it will succeed.

He added that he personally trusted Aaron Phypers and didn’t believe the opposition. He felt confident that they had proven Denise’s claims were untrue in the domestic violence part of the divorce case.

What did Aaron Phypers say in court when he took the stand?

On October 8, while taking the stand in court, Aaron Phypers denied the accusations against him. According to another report by People magazine, he also claimed that despite having a restraining order, she attempted to reach out to him over the phone. Nevertheless, he said he did not respond to any of the calls, stating:

“She has many phone numbers… some of them she had before and are inactive or she reactivated.”

Aaron Phypers also said:

“I never physically harmed Denise Richards… I never threatened to harm her… I did not threaten to kill anybody.”

There were allegations against him that Aaron Phypers attempted to cause physical harm to Denise Richards by trying to choke her. However, he dismissed the claim when asked about it in court. When asked about using abusive words against his estranged wife, Phypers said:

“I’ve never called her a b*tch… I’ve called her a liar, yes. But not a b*tch, no.”

One of Denise Richards’ claims was that on July 4, the day they separated, she asked Phypers to move out of their home. She shared that he became angry and often acted aggressively, sometimes resorting to physical violence. She explained that she had healed from a facelift and still had stitches, which made her feel weak.

According to her, he would stand close to her, grab her arms, and shout hurtful names. She said the situation made her feel scared, sad, and intimidated because he was much bigger than her.
