Zara Larsson says collaborating with female artists is a natural fit.

The Swedish pop star had a quick chat with People on the red carpet of the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where she gushed about working with women in the music industry.

"It's so important. It's an industry that feels very competitive. But I think behind the stage and you know, behind the scenes, everyone's very supportive and loving."

The Lush Life hitmaker has collaborated with several female pop stars, such as PinkPantheress, Muni Long, and Tate McRae. In her conversation with the outlet, she revealed the "warmth" that comes with teaming up with women.

"I really feel like there's this warmth amongst the girls, at least what I've experienced. It's so exciting to have been working with amazing pop girls, and I look forward to doing more of that."

Recalling, Zara Larsson unveiled the remix of her 2025 hit Midnight Sun, featuring Muni Long, as well as the new Stateside version with Pink Pantheress. Still, the pop star admits she's ready for more.

"I've collaborated with some incredible artists, but I wanna do more with the girls."

In a separate interview, Zara Larsson told People more about working with the Boy's a liar songstress.

"I love her. I think she's so cute and very, very, very talented. She's unapologetically herself, which I love, and she's doing things her own way/ She's also very smart and funny."

As to how their team-up came about, the Ain't My Fault singer revealed that their partnership happened quite casually.

"I actually DM'ed her two days before she asked me to jump on the remix, like, 'Queen.' I think that's all I said. She was like, 'Hey queen.' I just went, 'I love you.' I wanted to show some love. I was on a love spree. I just DM'ed a bunch of pop girlies, like, 'Queen.' I just want to appreciate all the girls who are killing it."

Zara Larsson earns first GRAMMY nomination

Meanwhile, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zara Larsson — who scored her first GRAMMY nod with her Midnight Sun single — reflected on her journey as an artist.

"When I first started releasing music, I never wrote anything. I started when I was 14, so I just knew I wanted to sing. As I was doing that, I discovered that it's very important to be part of the process, and I don't want to be just a performer. I want to be an artist."

The pop star did exactly that in her fifth studio album, having written all 10 tracks in it.

"It was meant to be Midnight Sun because this is me, it’s what feels like me. This is the first project that I have been 100 percent a part of and created, and the song is my favorite song that I've ever done. It represents me so well."

Zara Larsson released the album on Sept. 26, featuring Pretty Ugly as the title track. Her song Midnight Sun has been nominated for the Best Dance Pop Recording category at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards, set to broadcast on Feb. 1, 2026.
