Who is Kenneth Iwamasa? Matthew Perry’s personal assistant to be sentenced in November

In August 2024, Kenneth Iwamasa pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, causing the death of Matthew Perry. Iwamasa was Perry's live-in personal assistant.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 19, 2025, according to a recent report by the United States Justice Department published on August 18, 2025. Kenneth Iwamasa is expected to face a statutory maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison.

Matthew Perry’s PA’s name is currently trending after the DOJ revealed that a San Fernando Valley-based drug dealer named Jasveen Sangha has declared that they will plead guilty to five counts of federal felonies, including providing ketamine to Kenneth Iwamasa, which caused the Friends actor’s death by overdose in October 2023.

According to his LinkedIn bio, Kenneth Iwamasa, 60, has served as a talent manager and executive assistant to several Hollywood celebrities over the past three decades. He is a native of Toluca Lake who later moved to Los Angeles.

Iwamasa is associated with the Doug Chapin Management and worked as a personal manager for actor, writer, and producer Matthew Perry for over 25 years. However, he lived with Perry for a few months before his demise.

Before that, he served in the same role for actress-producer Angela Bassett between 1993 and 2002. Kenneth also spent more than two decades as the personal manager of writer-producer Kate Lanier. Iwamasa’s other clients were Wren T. Brown, Carol Kane, Allen Payne, Robby Benson, Regina Taylor, Elizabeth Montgomery, and Theresa Russell, among others.

He was also an assistant to producer Doug Chapin and worked in the production of films such as What’s Love Got To Do With It (1993), Love! Valour! Compassion! (1997), and When a Stranger Calls Back (1993), as per IMDb.

His LinkedIn further states that he has a university degree in photography and environmental design. Additionally, Kenneth Iwamasa pursued a one-year course in cinematography and film production at Columbia College Hollywood.

His bio read: “I thrive in chaotic situations which call for order. I am discreet, loyal, and honor absolute confidentiality.”

Kenneth Iwamasa administered multiple ketamine injections to Matthew Perry

Jasveen Sangha, aka “Ketamine Queen” of North Hollywood, is ready to plead guilty to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premise, three counts of distribution of ketamine, and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.

According to the DOJ’s latest press release, Sangha, 42, and director-producer Erik Fleming, 55, who was a close friend of Matthew Perry, worked together to “knowingly distribute ketamine” to the late actor, whose “struggles with drug addiction were well documented.”

Together, Sangha and Fleming sold 51 vials of ketamine to Kenneth Iwamasa in October 2023. Matthew Perry’s live-in personal assistant repeatedly injected his boss with several rounds of the drug.

On October 28, 2023, the day of his death, The West Wing star was administered three shots by Iwamasa, which ultimately led to his death by overdose.

Besides Kenneth Iwamasa and Jasveen Sangha, Erik Fleming is also facing prison time, alongside San Diego physician Mark Chavez and Santa Monica resident Salvador Plasencia, for their involvement in Matthew Perry’s death at the age of 54.
