Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammall are the latest actors to join the star-studded cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which will follow the saga introduced in Lauren Weisberger's bestselling novel.
The casting update arrives shortly after 20th Century Studios shared the first look at Anne Hathaway in the upcoming sequel to the 2006 comedy-drama film, The Devil Wears Prada. Hathaway will reprise her role as Andy Sachs, a wide-eyed fashion journalist trying to learn the ropes of the industry from a magazine's editor-in-chief.
David Frankel returns as the director and Aline Brosh McKenna as the screenwriter for the sequel. Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt are also set to return as Miranda Priestly and Emily Charlton, respectively. However, unlike the 2006 film, they will not be on the same side of the equation. Per IMDb, its official plot synopsis reads:
"The film follows Miranda Priestly's struggle against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement."
Besides Hathaway, Streep, and Blunt, Stanley Tucci will also reprise his role as Nigel Kipling, who was previously the art director at Miranda Priestly's Runway magazine. Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammall are the most recent additions to the cast. However, their roles are still under wraps.
