The last time we saw the angry Hulk, dubbed the "savage Hulk", was in 2019's Avengers: Endgame. However, rumors are circulating that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see Bruce Banner return to the big screen. The last time we saw Banner on the big screen was in 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which was also directed by Brand New Day helmer Destin Daniel Cretton.

However, the last time we saw Banner's alter ego was in 2019's Avengers: Endgame. In fact, in the second act of the 2019 movie, we see the heroes travel back in time to 2012 to steal three time stones. Here we meet the angry Hulk. But since then, we have seen just the smart version of the giant, who retains the Hulk's body but Bruce Banner's brain.

But now, rumors are circulating on the internet about the Green Giant's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

If rumors are true, the savage Hulk is returning in Brand New Day after briefly returning in Avengers: Endgame.

A leaked set image from last week showed Bruce Banner as a wanted man. While chances are that this poster is a decade old, before he was widely accepted as a hero, given the rumors, it seems that the savage Hulk goes into a rampage, because of which Banner is declared a wanted man. It is also possible that Spider-Man and The Punisher/Frank Castle are forced to team up to contain the Green Giant's rampage.

This has fans excited because ever since Avengers: Endgame, they have been complaining that Marvel has been rushing Banner and his giant alter-ego's arc without giving him any solo movies. However, it should also be noted that Marvel doesn't have the rights to distribute solo Hulk movies, only use it for team-ups like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Endgame.

The online entertainment news portal Nexus Point News was the first to drop a report that the Hulk, played by actor Mark Ruffalo. However, it was not until August 1, 2025, that The Hollywood Reporter published a report stating that Ruffalo's Bruce Banner is back in the MCU after 2022's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

But Hulk has not been seen on the big screen since Avengers: Endgame. While Ruffalo is in the Shang-Chi post-credit scene, he is in his human form as Banner is using a device to retain his human appearance.

What do we know about Brand New Day?

As of now, we don't have any information about the plot of the movie. But Marvel boss Kevin Feige teased what we can expect from Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the press conference two weeks ago:

“I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.”
