“I’m sorry, I just don’t remember going at it with the maintenance man being part of the job description.” — Emma questioning Josslyn about kissing Vaughn in Dalton’s office

Emma: “What do you call that?” Joss: “Petty” Emma: “karmic retribution” — Emma telling Josslyn that Dalton may give her the job she actually deserved if she told him about Joss kissing Vaughn in the office

Moments

Jason and Drew’s face-to-face at General Hospital

Neither of them flinched once during their intense argument about Michael, Willow, and the kids. But it was the ending moment that gave us the old-school Jason Morgan. Giving Drew a FAFO death stare, he said, “You may have destroyed their mother, but you will not destroy them. Quote me.”

I love that Steve Burton has given us a more nuanced and emotional Jason since his return but, every once in a while, it’s satisfying to see the ‘ol Stone Cold side come out and remind everyone just who they are dealing with.

Scenes

Brook Lynn and Lulu have it out at Maxie’s while Dante and Chase have it out in a PCPD jail cell.

If I’m being honest, I hate-watched these scenes. Looking at this insane situation objectively, each of them has valid reasons for their points of view, but I have grown quite weary of the amount of anger and righteous indignation displayed by ALL of them. And then there was the slap. As soap slaps go, it was a pretty good one and satisfying for many of the staunch Team Brook Lynn fans, but, for some reason, Brook Lynn’s hit just didn’t hit right with me. I was just left wondering why these otherwise responsible adults were incapable of owning their own crap and uttering the words, “I’m sorry” to each other.

I mention these scenes, however, because Amanda Setton, Alexa Havins, Kirsten Storms, Dominic Zamprogna, and Josh Swickard absolutely smashed their performances! Their characters’ anger, hurt, and frustration were palpable, and their intensity kept me glued to the screen even when I didn’t want to be.

Lulu and Gio’s Conversation at the Metro Court pool

Lulu apologized to Gio for the way he found out about his parentage and sat with him to answer his questions. There was no pushiness, no disparaging remarks, no snark, no running from the truth — just an honest, nuanced, and thoughtful conversation. It will be interesting to see if they have Gio develop a positive relationship with Lulu before Dante and Brook Lynn.

Alexa Havins and Giovanni Mazza did a beautiful job in these scenes. Her performance gave a sense of sincerity and accountability to Lulu, and he did a wonderful job conveying the confusion, anger, and hurt Gio is feeling right now.

Notables

To my delight, Tracy and Martin continued their legal woes waltz this week. I can’t wait to see what she actually says at her press conference!

For me, there was no greater villain than Helena Cassidine. You loved to hate her, and she was infinitely entertaining to watch. Now, we have the many layers of Jenz Sidwell slowly starting to reveal themselves and Carlo Rota has been turning the mysterious Sidwell into the same type of entertaining-to-watch villain. He has a psychopathic charm and controlled evil demeanor that make him interesting and kinda fun.

I also liked that more time was spent showing supportive and thoughtful conversations this week - Trina with Josslyn, Kai, & Ava, Lulu with Gio, Isaiah, & Anna, Jordan with Anna & Curtis,

Nina with Ava, Michael with Kristina, Sasha, Jason, & Curtis, Jason with Carly & Sasha, Carly with Brennan, Sonny with Gio, Lucas with Marco…so many nice moments that focused on developing and strengthening character relationships.

Fashion

I thought Josslyn’s black and white swimsuit and sarong looked super cute as she laid a big kiss on Vaughn at the pool.

While flirting with Cody at the pool, Ava looked stylish in her Missoni-esque pants by Becca.

FAVORITE!!! - Trina looked A-mazing as she channeled Audrey Hepburn’s Holly Golightly in her perfect LBD (Little Black Dress) and high bun at the gallery. (I loved her purse as well and wished they had given a closer look at it.)

Things that Make You Go Hmmm

Willow agrees to marry Drew on General Hospital | Image: ABC

How long are they going to have Willow play Cult Barbie? Is Drew actually Shiloh, under someone’s control, or just a scumbag?

Will they ever let Sasha be happy for more than five minutes? Who is the lurking shadow? It could be something deliciously soapy like Nelle seeking vengeance or something ho-hum like Holly trying to see her new granddaughter.

Speaking of Sasha, I’m not quite understanding her arrangement with Michael. She seems to want everyone to have a relationship with Daisy, but she has no legal connection. How involved does Michael and everyone else get to be? Why did Sidwell bribe the judge to rule in Michael’s favor?
