What happened on General Hospital

A panicked Portia welcomed Ava to her office and told her she had been subpoenaed to testify at Willow's trial. Ava tried to be optimistic and suggested that maybe Alexis wanted to ask about Drew's injuries, but Portia was sure it was more than that. "Otherwise, Alexis wouldn't have waited till the last minute to have me subpoenaed," Portia said.
Ava advised Portia not to panic. "As someone who has a lot of experience answering questions in court, if Alexis asks anything about Drew Cain, say as little as humanly possible," Ava warned.
At the courthouse, Justine told Dante that Alexis had added Portia as a last-minute witness. They tried to figure out why and wondered if it had to do with Curtis being a suspect.
When Curtis arrived in court, he was surprised to see Trina by Kai's side again. Brook Lynn and Chase were also there, so Chase could testify. "When you get up on that stand, please choose your words wisely," Brook Lynn advised.
In the courtroom, Drew once again warned Alexis she had to mount a strong defense. "I'm sure Alexis has it under control," Willow said, trying to tame her husband. "If things go as I planned, I will prove that the police arrested the wrong person," Alexis assured.
Chase was the first witness to take the stand. He told the court that he voiced his concerns to his fellow officers that he didn't think the PCPD was thorough enough and arrested Willow prematurely. Chase also admitted he had started his own shadow investigation. "I believe and still do that Willow is innocent," Chase said. He said there was evidence against other suspects, as well.
Chase told the jury that the PCPD had eight suspects in mind right after Drew was shot, with strong circumstantial evidence against them. "I believe that Willow was arrested prematurely and as a result, other suspects weren't thoroughly investigated," he said.
Chase also explained that another suspect had been arrested but was released. "So, instead, the district attorney pursued the case against Willow Tait," Alexis stated. "Yes, which in my opinion was a huge miscarriage of justice," Chase stated. Brook Lynn and Dante were shocked and dismayed by Chase's testimony.
When Justine cross-examined, she got Chase to admit that he didn't find any evidence at all to definitively prove Willow's innocence. When Chase stepped down, an angry Dante told him to meet him at the station immediately.
Curtis and Trina were stunned when Alexis next called Portia to the stand. Portia was just as surprised when she saw her family sitting there when she walked into the courtroom. Trina asked Ava why she was there, so Ava said she was there to support Portia, but had no idea why she was called.
Drew didn't seem happy that Portia was going to testify, but Alexis forged ahead. She immediately began asking about lab test results. Curtis, Ava, and Drew knew where Alexis was heading. Portia admitted that she had falsified Heather's test results and explained why. She also told the court that Drew had learned the truth and blackmailed her with the information.
Portia told the court that Drew forced her to get Curtis to pull any negative coverage against him, as well as publish glowing articles. She admitted to hating Drew, but said that she did not shoot him. Portia also said she had been to visit Monica not long before Drew was shot, but knew nothing of Edward Q's guns.
Alexis finally asked where Portia was when Drew was shot. "Please don't do this. You're not going to get the answer that you're looking for," Portia begged, practically in tears. Eventually, Portia admitted that she was in a Metro Court hotel room with Dr. Isaiah Gannon.
Portia just kept on talking, explaining that her marriage was over, so she wasn't technically cheating, only kinda-sorta cheating. Alexis told Portia that she didn't need to explain, but since her family was sitting there, Portia disagreed. Alexis finished her questioning, as Portia continued to cry, asking Trina and Curtis to forgive her. Trina ran from the courtroom as Kai chased after her.
Justine quickly questioned Portia next and made her confirm her alibi in front of Curtis. Portia was then excused from the stand. Portia found Trina in the hall, but Trina didn't want to hear anything her mother had to say. Curtis appeared and asked Kai to take Trina home. Once Trina was gone, Curtis asked if the baby was his.
Portia did not know, but swore she was going to get a paternity test and planned to tell the truth. Curtis was disgusted with the lies. "And Trina? I don't know how you can come back from this," he said. Curtis walked away as Portia broke down in tears. Ava appeared to comfort her friend.
Back in the courtroom, Alexis tried to call another witness, but the annoyed judge adjourned the trial until after the new year. Drew immediately had something to say: "That was a disaster." Drew didn't have a chance to say much more because Justine told him that "someone would be in touch about the extortion accusations.
When Justine left, an angry Drew started to go off on Alexis as an alarmed Willow looked on. "This is your fault. Now I'm looking at extortion charges because of you," he spat. "Yeah, well, you shouldn't have blackmailed Portia," Alexis shot back.
Willow was horrified when Drew showed his true colors. "You can forget about spending time with Scout over the holidays," he told Alexis. When Drew and Willow walked out of the courtroom, the press hurled questions at him regarding Portia's accusations.
Back in the courtroom, a young man delivered Alexis a letter telling her that Michael was at Drew's house the night he was shot, and Tracy saw him there.
In the PCPD interrogation room, Dante laid into Chase for his actions to help save Willow. "What you did was undermine the department and throw the entire trial into jeopardy," Dante accused. "You tarnished that badge you're wearing right now. As a matter of fact, maybe you don't deserve to wear it."
"If I don't, then neither do you," Chase hurled back. "You used your position as acting commissioner to steer this investigation away from your brother. So many signs pointed to Michael, starting with the fact that he loathed Drew."
Dante claimed that he had tried to be as fair as possible, but Chase disagreed, saying that Dante had gotten Michael sent to prison before and was afraid to do it again. Chase quickly apologized for that comment, but noted that Dante let Curtis go as soon as he saw the traffic cam footage.
Dante then had to ask if Chase was the one who destroyed that evidence. "Tell me you're not the one who got rid of that footage," Dante begged. Chase swore it wasn't him, but was shocked when Dante suspended him.
After her Christmas shopping, Laura met up with Marty at the Metro Court and was surprised to learn that she had bought him a gift. Laura assured Martin that she still loved him, despite what he did with Ronnie and Tracy.
Across the dining room, Michael offered to pay for Tracy's lunch. "I should hope so after I just perjured myself for you," Tracy quipped. "How long are you going to hold that over my head?" he asked. "For as long as Monica held the house over mine," Tracy replied.
Tracy then got serious and worried about what would happen if Alexis recalled her to the stand before deciding lunch was over. She spotted Laura and Martin and decided to have a word about Sonny selling his piers to Sidwell. Laura then changed the subject and told Marty that he owed Tracy an apology.
Marty claimed he needed time to come up with a proper apology. "Maybe I could text you?" he suggested. Marty finally used his spoken words: "I'm sorry I forged Monica's will. It wasn't the right thing to do." Tracy agreed, saying, "It was a despicable thing to do."
Tracy then went off on Martin as Laura listened. She actually seemed to get through to Martin, as he realized the depth of what he had done. But Tracy wasn't done. "You know, if you were really sorry, you would stand up to that despicable boss of yours," she said.
Tracy told Laura that Drew stole her family heirlooms, and Marty was no help in getting them back. As Tracy and Marty sparred, Laura tried to play mediator and suggested that Marty talk to Drew again. Laura finally got Marty to agree to try.
Back at Michael's table, Brook Lynn joined him after leaving court and told him about Chase's testimony. "He got up on that stand to save Willow and he ended up risking his entire career." She told Michael what Chase said on the stand, but Michael wasn't surprised. He reminded Brook Lynn that Chase was sticking up for someone he believed in.
"Don't let Drew and Willow destroy you guys' happiness. They're not worth it," Michael correctly insisted.
