General Hospital's Steve Burton and wife Michelle Lundstrom share hilarious Emmy red carpet moment

General Hospital star Steve Burton and his wife Michelle Lundstrom walked the red carpet at the Daytime Emmys for the first time as a married couple October 17th.

Burton and Lundstrom, who got married on May 17, 2025, posed for pictures at the 2024 Emmys, but found this year’s experience to be memorable in a humorous and entertaining way.

The General Hospital star, who plays Jason Morgan, posted a video to his Instagram account of he and his wife recounting the events of the night. With one of their red carpet photos from a professional Getty Images photographer in the background, they made fun of their appearance in the pose. Or more specifically, HIS appearance.

Burton fessed up to getting a spray tan of the event, and he said that his face looked terrible against the blue backdrop used on the red carpet at the Emmys.

The General Hospital actor captioned the post “Note to self: Never, under any circumstances, get a spray tan or try on your suit on the day of the event. You’ll end up looking like a Cheeto in karate pants on the red carpet.”

In the video, Lundstrom started by saying “We had the best time. We laughed a lot. I told Steve he didn’t need a spray tan because he’s already regularly tan. But we got really lucky that this year on the red carpet, they used a really neon royal blue background which made Steve look like an orange potato.” She added that they couldn’t use anything from the Getty site for their own purposes.

But they took it in stride with laughter. Steve responded, “I was trying to look like a candy corn. It’s like a Cheeto in a freaking baggy suit. Like someone just took their uncle out of a home and brought him to the Emmys. Honestly, that’s what I felt like. I didn’t even know what was going on.”

After they had some more laughs, Burton added “Thank God I had my wife with me. Look at her. Amazing. And then they’re like ‘Who let this guy in?’”

General Hospital co-stars got into the fun. Laura Wright, who plays Jason’s BFF Carly, said “I mean, I didn’t wanna say anything …… haaaaa.” Jacqueline Grace Lopez (Blaze) said, “Lol! So great seeing both of you!” Lydia Look (Selina Wu) added, “Love!”

The post got a lot of comments from fans who shared in the laughter. The Instagram user bubbyb.valenzuela said “Hot mess 🤣 Michelle you looked absolutely stunning and Steve. I think your George Hamilton look was spot on. Sir, Orange, yellow or blue, it doesn’t matter what color you are because you are ALWAYS on.”

The Instagram user michele.patrick.39 gave some advice, saying “See I love it that you guys can laugh about stuff like this. So many people take it so seriously. Mean at least you didn’t look like a Oompa Loompa 😆 you still should get the picture and then keep it in your memory box and then when you guys are like 100 years old, you could be pulling it out and start laughing about it.” Meanwhile, mandyprairie77 observed “Sheesh I thought it was the white shirt!! We are so used to seeing ‘Stone Cold’ in all black! I’m dying with the karate pants caption.”

Lundstrom is a chef and social media content creator who has appeared on the Netflix competition series Barbecue Showdown. She has two daughters from a previous relationship. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.
