General Hospital’s Sofia Mattsson addressed her departure from the show on social media Tuesday, but also said the door was still open for a return in the future.
Mattsson, who plays Sasha Corbin, shared a post on her Instagram account and showed gratitude to the show and its fans.

She captioned the post, “Yes, it’s true, Sasha Gilmore has left Port Charles! (For now 😜) General Hospital has become my second home these past years and I am so grateful for my time there. And I feel so lucky to have experienced the love and support all the wonderful GH fans have to give - you guys truly are THE BEST! ❤️ I hope Sasha will make her way back to her friends and family, but for now it’s time for her to take a break from all the drama, and for me to continue my acting journey in some new exciting projects.”
She included several pictures in the post, including one of her in the General Hospital studio. She also shared photos of her with Morgan Fairchild (Haven de Havilland), Josh Kelly (Cody Bell), her onscreen mother Emma Samms (Holly Sutton), Steve Burton (Jason Morgan), Rory Gibson (Michael Corinthos), baby Daisy, Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves), Kathleen Gati (Liesl Obrecht) and Katelyn MacMullen (Willow Tait).
The final picture in the post was a sweet one of her and Johnny Wactor smiling at each other. Wactor, who played Sasha’s husband Brando Corbin on General Hospital, was shot and killed in May, 2024. Several fans pointed out that one and how moving and poignant it was to see that photo.
Several co-stars immediately took to Instagram to comment on the post. MacMullen said. “Beyond beautiful, talented and genuine! Love you!” Jacqueline Grace Lopez (Blaze) said. “Excited for you(r) next chapter! Congrats on all your amazing work. 💕💕💕🥳🥳🥳.” Gibson put in emojis of a heart and a daisy, honoring their onscreen newborn. William deVry (ex-Julian Jerome), said “Very sad..you were GREAT on GH. They will miss you. You had a great run.” Tanisha Harper (Jordan Ashford) added, “I'm going to miss seeing your beautiful face in the hallways. But know I'll be seeing your talented self on the big screens soon! 🤍🤍.” Briana Lane (ex-Brook Lynn Quartermaine), commented, “❤️❤️❤️❤️”
Mattsson has been on General Hospital since 2018.
Sasha left Port Charles in early July, taking baby Daisy to France to live with her parents, Holly and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers). Sasha wanted to protect Daisy from the mysterious threats she was facing in the Quartermaine mansion, but doesn’t know the culprit was Willow.

The door is wide open for Sasha and Daisy to return once she and Michael find out that Willow was the one gaslighting Sasha. But there is still a mob war percolating between Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) that threatens Michael and all of his children. So even if Willow’s actions are discovered, Sasha may still want to stay away for a long while and give her parents lots of quality time with their granddaughter.
