KPop Demon Hunters trio reflects on 2026 GRAMMY nominations: "It's the honor of a lifetime"

EJAE, who co-wrote "Golden," believes that recognition from the music industry's biggest night highlights a wider discussion about representation as a Korean.

"I'm just so proud to be Korean because growing up in America, too, I felt ashamed of d being Korean at one point. I felt ostracized, and so I'm just happy to be a part of this incredible cultural phenomenon to be able to show off our country."

Audrey Nuna echoed EJAE's reflections, saying how the GRAMMY nomination is a "culminating moment."

"A Grammy nomination means so much to anyone who's in music and anyone who creates for a living. It's very a culminating moment. And I think that we're just not only thinking about this film, but our lives, the cultural context and the history, and our parents, and the struggles."

She went on:

"It's the honor of a lifetime to stand alongside both [EJAE and Rei Ami] and for us all to do it together. The sorority of it is really beautiful."

Meanwhile, Rei Ami — whose goal in 2026 is "world domination" — expressed what she's most excited about in the forthcoming GRAMMYs ceremony on Feb. 1 next year in Los Angeles.

"Winning! That would be really cool."

KPop Demon Hunters premiered on Netflix in June and immediately soared to become the most-watched animated movie on the streaming giant. It also clinched the title as the most popular film of all time, with over 200 million views and counting.

"Golden," KPop Demon Hunters' official soundtrack that nabbed two GRAMMY nominations, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Soundtracks chart and No. 8 on Billboard 200.

Following its mega-success, KPop Demon Hunters is coming back for a sequel. According to Bloomberg, Netflix and Sony have finalized a deal and aim to release the sophomore installment in 2029.
