Cardi B is stepping into a fresh chapter in her life, one she describes as deeply meaningful. In an Instagram Story on Thursday, the rapper shared:
“This chapter in my life is very personal to me. I’ve proven people wrong over and over again and it’s time to prove that point to myself again.”
It’s been a transformative year for the rapper, who filed for divorce from Offset for the second time in 2024, describing the split as "amicable." They were married in 2017, which only became public knowledge the following year.
This year, Cardi B has gone public with her relationship with Stefon Diggs. Earlier in August, the couple also quashed the breakup rumors after the I Like It hitmaker posted a new intimate photo with the NFL star. She captioned her post with:
"Fk it, we ball."
Cardi B unleashes Jay Z-approved “Imaginary Playerz” ahead of new album Am I the Drama?
Meanwhile, Cardi B's post came just ahead of the release of her single Imaginary Playerz, which arrived on August 15.
The track heavily samples the Jay Z’s 1997 classic Imaginary Players from My Lifetime Vol. 1, and earlier this week, the female rapper revealed she received his blessing to use it.
“If he didn’t approve it, I probably wouldn’t even feel a certain type of way neither… But I’m glad that I came hard and he loved it."
Per reports, the new track was produced by DJ SwanQo, Sean Island, and OctaneThisThatGas, while the official music video was co-directed by Cardi B and Patientce Foster.
The 32-year-old also dropped a high-gloss visual for Imaginary Playerz, which sees her strutting like a runway. The music video's visuals begin in New York City before jetting to Paris, indulging in European luxuries.
Then, the video shifts to Mykonos, Greece, where Cardi is shown aboard a yacht, enjoying a large bowl of lobster.
Imaginary Playerz follows her summer single Outside, as Cardi B builds anticipation for her 23-track sophomore LP, Am I the Drama?, which includes her previous hits WAP and UP.
When the inclusion was announced, she defended the decision back in June.
“This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this. WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album, and people search for them on IOP all the time… they deserve a home.”
Am I the Drama? arrives on September 19.
