Destiny Evans will be a key part of One Life to Live's future storylines, but scheduling issues have forced the show to recast the role. Model Laura Harrier will join the show at launch. Destiny was originated by Shenell Edmonds.

International model Laura Harrier has been cast in the contract role of One Life to Live's Destiny Evans.

In January, One Life to Live announced that it would be recasting the role of Destiny. The move surprised some fans, who wondered why the show's previous Destiny, NAACP Image Award nominee Shenell Edmonds, would not be reprising the role. Edmonds took to Facebook to dispel rumors that she'd been overlooked.

"Many of you have asked me about the Prospect Park reboot of OLTL online so here goes," Edmonds offered. "I am very excited about the return of OLTL as many of you are. Obviously I can't give specifics but I will tell you that I was invited to join the cast. Unfortunately, they were unable to accommodate my school schedule therefore, I had to politely decline. My heartfelt thanks to all of you for rooting for my return and your continuous support. OLTL will always be dear to my heart and hey, you never know, soaps may return into my life at another time."

A native of Chicago, Harrier has appeared in campaigns for American Eagle, L'Oréal, and Target. She's also appeared in numerous fashion magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Elle, and Glamour.

"Just had the most AMAZING day with my new #OLTL family," Harrier shared on her first day of work. "In love with everyone already. So excited to begin this adventure."

The audition script used in the casting process showed a much edgier Destiny, a young woman who had taken to accepting money from older men in exchange for her time and other favors.
