Diddy's sentencing took an emotional turn when his attorney, Brian Steel, pleaded through tears for the hip-hop mogul's humanity to be remembered.

On Friday, Oct. 3, Sean "Diddy" Combs' bombshell legal battle finally culminated. The disgraced rapper received a sentence of 50 months in prison, over four years, after approximately two years of civil lawsuits and federal investigations that led to a criminal trial.

U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian issued a significant ruling three months after Combs was found guilty in a federal case involving sex crimes.

Diddy, who was apprehended in September 2024 while facing abuse lawsuits, was convicted of two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution but was cleared of more severe charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Following the verdict, Diddy's family and legal team turned emotional. His children expressed their support despite it all, while his lawyer, Brian Steel, reportedly recounted traumas that molded the rapper's life.

"I sit here with tears in my eyes, I can't believe we're here. Sean has impacted America in such a positive manner."

Steel continued:

"Sean's father was k*lled when he was three. [...] He works harder than anyone else. More trauma: his best friend is sh*t in LA in a drive-by sh**ting. [...] He has an operation and gets addicted to the painkillers he's given. He has been high from then until 2024. On occasion, he would hit the woman he loved."

The attorney also claimed that the mogul loved his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, his former protege who accused him of physical abuse and s*x trafficking.

"He loved Ms. Ventura. He has taken responsibility... I have been there when Sean has prayed for healing for anyone he has hurt."

Diddy breaks down in tears as he begs judge for mercy: "I hate myself right now"

At the post-sentencing hearing, Diddy begged a federal judge for mercy, saying he has been "stripped down to nothing."

"I got lost in the journey of life. I got lost in excess. I got lost in my ego. Because of my decisions, I lost my freedom. I've totally destroyed my reputation. I've been humbled and broken down. I hate myself right now."

The disgraced artist also apologized to Cassie Ventura, the singer who dated him on and off for ten years, as well as a woman referred to in court by the pseudonym “Jane.”

“My actions were disgusting, shameful and sick. I was sick from the drugs. I was out of control. I needed help and I didn’t get the help,” Combs said.

As he addressed his mother, Janice, who was present watching from the courtroom gallery, Diddy finally broke down in tears.

“You taught me better. You raised me better.”
