The former guitarist of the heavy metal band Mastodon, William Brent Hinds, passed away unexpectedly in Atlanta on August 20. Hinds was injured on Wednesday night following a collision of his Harley Davidson bike. He lost his life at the age of 51.
Brent's motorcycle reportedly crashed into a BMW SUV due to the driver's mistake while turning at the junction of Memorial Drive and Boulevard. As per the authorities, William Brent Hinds' accident took place at around 11:35 PM. The medical examiner's office in Fulton County confirmed Brent Hinds' death.

On August 21, Mastodon extended their condolence at the tragic death of their ex-guitarist William Brent Hinds on their official social media account.
“We are in a state of unfathomable sadness and grief... last night. Brent Hinds passed away as a result of a tragic accident. We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we've shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many."
Mastodon further continued as,
"Our hearts are with Brent's family, friends, and fans. At this time, we please ask that you respect everyone's privacy during this difficult time. RIP Brent.,” Mastodon stated.

The guitarist earned fame for his work with the Atlanta-based band Mastodon. William Brent co-founded the metal band in 2000 with bassist Troy Sanders, guitarist Bill Kelliher, and drummer Brann Dailor.
In July this year, Brent Hinds announced dates for his European Tour. This tour was slated to begin on October 31 and conclude on November 21, as per released schedule. This was going to be the solo tour of Brent Hinds without his band Mastodon.
