A troubling incident at TwitchCon 2025 in San Diego has sparked a wave of online rumours and debate regarding MarkyNextDoor. One of the most vocal claims circulating is that Marky, widely believed by some to be the bodyguard of singer D4vd, was arrested after the assault of streamer and cosplayer Emiru, real name Emily Schunk, during a public meet-and-greet. According to The Economic Times, however, there is no publicly verified evidence that Marky was arrested in connection with the incident.
Shortly afterwards, discussions online spread rapidly. Some posts claimed the attacker was Marky, suggesting he was detained or arrested. Other posts amplified a link between him and D4vd, part of a larger controversy involving the singer and a separate investigation. But when it comes to the question "Was he arrested?" the public record offers no confirmation.
The incident involving MarkyNextDoor at TwitchCon
The starting point is the TwitchCon event itself. Emiru, who is known for her streaming work and cosplaying, was seated on stage during a fan-meet and greet at TwitchCon 2025. Videos shared on social media show a man stepping onto the stage and leaning in toward her, attempting to kiss her neck while she recoiled. The man is claimed to be MarkyNextDoor. Security staff promptly removed him from the stage and escorted him out of the venue.
The reaction was immediate. Many online expressed concern about how someone could access the stage and make such an advance. Some prominent streamers had already raised questions about safety and crowd management at large fan events like TwitchCon.
In response, the event’s organiser and streaming platform stated X, writing:
"The safety and security of all those attending TwitchCon is our highest priority. The behavior displayed by the individual involved in the incident yesterday involving a high profile streamer was completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting."
But crucially, the statement made no mention of any arrest or naming of the individual beyond referring to "an individual."
This statement left a gap: While the incident is verified, the attacker's identity, the chain of action afterwards, and whether any legal charge or arrest took place remain unconfirmed.
Speculation around MarkyNextDoor and arrest claims
Following the TwitchCon incident, a flood of social-media posts began connecting the attacker to a figure named MarkyNextDoor. Many posts claim he was the bodyguard of D4vd, or had worked for him, and that he was arrested after the incident.
Digging into the background, MarkyNextDoor is a Twitch streamer, whose real name is reportedly Mark Morales, who has previously denied being a bodyguard for D4vd or being involved in one of the earlier controversies tied to the singer’s circle (notably the case of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas). That earlier case has its own complex facts: A decomposed body found in a car registered to D4vd, etc.
Despite these denials and the lack of official confirmation, the rumour of arrest spread widely. Neither law enforcement nor Twitch has confirmed any arrest of MarkyNextDoor for the TwitchCon assault. Thus, the claim remains unverified. Social media chatter also conflates the TwitchCon assault case and the Celeste Rivas case; some posts suggest a link between them via Marky.
Until law enforcement or event organisers release clear statements or court documents emerge, this remains an unverified speculation. It may yet be clarified, but for now only the assault is confirmed; the alleged arrest is not.
