Kid Cudi took the stand on May 22, 2025, to give his testimony in the federal trial of Sean Diddy Combs. The rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, dated Diddy’s on-and-off girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, for some time in 2011. The music executive was reportedly angry when he found out about their relationship.
The "Day ‘n’ Nite" rapper, dressed in a black leather jacket and a white tee, told the jury about a break-in at his house and vandalism of his Porsche. Kid stated that Sean Combs had asked him to work with Cassie, who was signed to Bad Boy Records, on a musical project in 2010.
Cudi stated he initially started being friends with Cassie before they became lovers. The rapper told the court how Cassie informed him that Diddy had assaulted her and she was no longer with him.
He revealed that he was scared for himself and Cassie in the days that followed Diddy’s discovery of their relationship.

Around November 2011, Ventura allegedly told Kid that she was done with Combs, as he was abusive towards her. The rapper stated that he received a phone call from a distressed Ventura in December 2011, who told him that Combs had found out about their relationship.
Kid recalled feeling confused as he was under the impression that Ventura was no longer in a relationship with Diddy. The rapper claimed he picked Cassie up and took her to a hotel.
Capricorn Clark, former PA for Diddy, who testified on May 27, 2025, reportedly called Kid at the hotel to inform him that Combs was headed to his house. The kid rushed to his home, and there was no one there.
However, he discovered unwrapped presents in his kitchen, and his dog was locked in the bathroom. The rapper called the police, filed a report about the break-in, and spent Christmas at the Ventura family home in Connecticut. Kid revealed that he decided to end things with Cassie because he stated:
"I knew Sean Combs was violent."
Recalling how his Porsche got damaged in January 2012, Kid Cudi claimed that he received a call from his dog sitter, who alerted him that his vehicle was on fire in the driveway.
The rapper returned home to find his car irreparably damaged and remnants of a Molotov cocktail next to the scorched vehicle. Scared, he believed that Sean Diddy Combs was behind the car accident and set up a meeting with the music mogul at SoHo House in Los Angeles. Describing the latter’s demeanour, Cudi recalled:
"Sean Combs was standing there, staring out the window with his hands behind his back, like a Marvel supervillain”
Cudi also added that he and Diddy discussed his relationship with Ventura:
“We discussed pretty much the whole story about how me and Cassie first started to date to what it was to how it ended,”
Kid Cudi added that he asked Combs about his car towards the end of the meeting, and the latter replied that he didn’t know about it. Kid revealed during his examination-in-chief that he believed Sean Diddy Combs was lying about not knowing what happened to his Porsche.
Kid claimed that he met the music executive again in 2015 at the SoHo House, where the latter pulled him aside, saying:
“Man, I just want to apologise for everything and all that bull s*it,”
Sean Diddy Combs' trial is not been televised. It began on May 5, 2025, and is expected to last 8-10 weeks.
