The Summer I Turned Pretty has always been about more than just sun-kissed days at Cousins Beach. It's about first love, heartbreak, and the kind of love that stays with you forever, the kind of love that stays with you for infinity. And after the September 17 Season 3 finale, fans finally saw Belly choose Conrad.

Yes, you read that right - Conrad Fisher is endgame. But just when we thought the story had closed its final Season, Amazon Studios dropped a bombshell. A "The Summer I Turned Pretty" movie is officially on the way, and this time, Bonrad fans (yes, me included) might just get the wedding, the epilogue, and the closure we've been waiting years for.

Belly and Conrad’s love story isn’t done yet

Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty ended with Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) reuniting in Paris. It was soft, messy, and completely them. From the intimacy of their night together to Conrad's confession, the finale felt like a payoff years in the making.

Belly's voiceover, once she picks Conrad, is something that also hit us like a nailgun in our heads:

"Conrad, I choose you, of my own free will. If there are infinite worlds, every version of me chooses you, in every one of them."

Watching Belly proudly wear the infinity necklace from Season 1, as she said it was nothing short of magical.

Still, for fans of Jenny Han's books, something felt unfinished. In the third and final book, titled We'll Always Have Summer, Han gave us an epilogue that ended with Belly and Conrad's wedding day. It was romantic and achingly perfect. Belly described running barefoot through the rain in her wedding dress, laughing as Conrad carried her toward the ocean before saying;

"I go wherever you go."

That book scene, however, never made it to the finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty TV Show, and fans were left yearning for the exact moment that defined the BellyConrad infinity. The new film finally gives Jenny Han a chance to bring that ending to life.

Jenny Han promises a bigger milestone for Belly

The announcement of The Summer I Turned Pretty movie came during the Season 3 finale celebration in Paris. Jenny Han, who not only wrote the beloved books but also adapted them for Prime Video, explained why a film was the only way forward.

She said;

"There is another big milestone left in Belly's journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due..."

She also added that she was grateful Amazon was giving her space to finish Belly's story in the way it deserves to be told and ended.

That statement alone was enough to send Bonrad fans into straight-up overdrive. If the series finale was about Belly choosing Conrad, then the movie feels destined to be about what comes after i.e, their commitment and love for eachother, marriage, and building a future together.

Amazon clearly knows the importance of this story. Courtenay Valenti and Vernon Sanders from Amazon MGM Studios praised how the series has created "moments of joy, nostalgia, and connection" for millions around the world. And those millions? They showed up. Season 3 alone drew 25 million viewers in its first week.

So if Han is calling this a milestone, fans can only guess it's leading to the Epilogue we've been holding onto since the books: Conrad and Belly's wedding day, complete with rain, laughter, and a promise of forever and infinity.

Why Bonrad fans deserve The Summer I Turned Pretty movie

For three seasons, we've watched Conrad struggle, cry, and finally grow into the man Belly always believed he could be. Season after season, he carried the weight of grief, heartbreak, and the fear of losing her. And yet, through all of it, he loved her.

The finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty showed us a softer Conrad, a Conrad who finally let himself be hopeful. He told Belly he loved her again, not as a scared boy, but as a man choosing her without hesitation.

And now, let's be real - Bonrad fans have been through the absolute wringer. We watched Jeremiah get his chance, saw Belly falter, and waited while Connie walked away and cried more times than we can count. The payoff in Paris on a moving train felt good, but it didn't feel final. That's why this film matters so much.

Jenny Han herself left a handwritten note in the finale credits of the show thanking fans and teasing;

"Maybe we'll meet again one summer in Cousins."

Now we know she meant it.

For those of us who clung to that infinity necklace, have been a child of divorce along with Jr. Mint, and have constantly tweeted "Team Conrad" every chance we got, this is the victory lap. We're finally getting the wedding, the rain-soaked vows, and the forever that Han promised us in her books.

The Summer I Turned Pretty has always been about growing up, but it's also about the magic of first love and the second chances that follow. With Amazon Studios confirming the movie, Jenny Han is giving Belly and Conrad the ending they deserve-and giving fans the closure they've been dreaming about since page one.

For Bonrad fans, this isn't just another chapter. It's the promise of forever, finally playing out on screen. And honestly? We wouldn't have it any other way.
