Chicago P.D. Season 13 is just a few weeks away, as the popular decade-long procedural series will return for its thirteenth season on October 1, 2025. The thirteenth season will pick up where the previous season left off: Henry Voight dealing with the fallout of the previous season's finale, i.e., the disbandment of his team following Deputy Chief Charlie Reid's death.

The thirteenth season will see more of Officer Adam Ruzek and Detective Kim Burgess as a newlywed couple. But there's one cast member who is not returning for Chicago P.D. Season 13: Toya Turner.

Deadline shocked fans across the world by publishing a report that actress Toya Turner was not going to return to Chicago P.D. on June 26, 2025. She made her debut in the series in the twelfth season, which started airing on September 25, 2024. Turner posted an extended message addressing her exit on her Instagram with the following caption before cameras started rolling on Chicago P.D. Season 13:

"My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next. To the cast and crew: thank you for the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity you brought every day. It was an honor to share the screen and the set with such talent. To the ChiHards: thank you for welcoming me, rooting for me, and showing Kiana love. And to everyone who believes in me: your support means the world. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead. Next chapter 🤍, Toya"

What do we know about the upcoming thirteenth season?

As of now, not much is known about the thirteenth season, as we don't know the episode count yet. But showrunner Gwen Sigan teased what we can expect from the upcoming season. Firstly, she teased Voight's storyline this season:

"What we find is that Voight's simple solution that he thought he had found was not so simple. So the team is actually disbanded and we are, in this first episode, exploring how the heck is he gonna get them back together? The bullpen has just been empty for a month, so it's a very different feel to our start."

Then, she went on to reveal what we can expect from Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess in Chicago P.D. Season 13:

"They're happy. They're kind of in that honeymoon phase of still being really excited about the wedding and being happy together. Their lives are a little more complicated at the moment with work, but the two of them are very strong and happy together and that's something we want to continue to look at: Now you're married, you have this great family unit, but what comes next?"

While we wait for Chicago P.D. Season 13, binge the previous twelve seasons on Peacock.
