Good Boy Episode 3 recap: Dong-ju's cousin is found dead

The latest crime-comedy K-drama, Good Boy, returned with Episode 3 "Million Dollar Baby" on June 7, 2025 on JTBC and Amazon Prime Video. It kicks off with a flashback from the past, when Han-na made it to the 50-meter rifle shooting at the 2018 São Paulo championship finale and was about to hit a record.

The whole country had its hopes pinned on Han-na to win and bring home the gold, with the anchors calling her a "million-dollar baby". But behind the scenes, she was under even more pressure. Her mother had signed a shampoo endorsement deal in her name and was already eyeing bigger opportunities.

As the shooting championship kicked off, Han-na started strong with a solid shot. It was a clear sign that she’s nearly unbeatable and destined for first place. But just before the final result is revealed, the Good Boy episode cuts back to the present timeline.

The episode picks up from where the previous one ended, as Dong-ju has found the real culprit behind the hit-and-run case. He knows that his cousin is innocent and that he has been forced to confess to the accident and the death of the official.

Dong-ju comes face-to-face with Min Ju-young, an officer from the Insung Customs Service who’s been secretly funding criminal operations and bribing a corrupt insider to leak him information. He tells Ju-young that he'll soon expose him and prove Gyeong-il innocent.

However, Ju-young lies about not knowing Dong-ju and says it might be a misunderstanding. Dong-ju then shows him the marks on his back during the hit-and-run case, but is thrown out of the office.

Good Boy Episode 3 recap: Dong-ju's face-off with Jong-hyun

As the Good Boy Episode 3 begins, Man-sik is ashamed of Dong-ju's actions at the Insung Customs office and tells him not to repeat this act. However, Dong-ju is sure that Min Ju-young is a Grade 7 public official on the surface, but is actually connected to a murder and Korean-Chinese hit men as a gang boss.

Man-sik then asks Dong-ju for evidence, to which Dong-ju tells him that they need to investigate him to gather evidence and prove him guilty. Dong-ju then requests Jae-hong to take pictures and video of his back injury that Ju-young gave him with the hit-and-run vehicle.

Jong-hyun walks into the office and sincerely thanks Man-sik for saving his life. In response, the team leader tells him he can repay the favor by officially joining their team. Dong-ju, never missing a chance to tease, jokes that Jong-hyun only knows how to fight with toy swords and that he’s actually terrified of real knives.

Dong-ju firmly says his answer is still "no" to letting Jong-hyun join the team and adds that Ha-na would probably agree with him. Taking the teasing in stride, Jong-hyun fires back with a challenging "Wanna find out?", clearly ready for a showdown.

The tension quickly turns playful as the two square off, and the office erupts with bets. Most of the officers put their bets on Dong-ju's win, but Jae-hong and Man-sik quietly place their bets on Jong-hyun, knowing he was once a taekwondo champion back in school.

In a twist no one saw coming, Dong-ju loses the match and to make things worse? Ha-na walks in just in time to witness his embarrassing defeat at the hands of Jong-hyun (who's also Han-na's ex-boyfriend).

Jong-hyun challenged Dong-ju that if he wins, he would have to treat him with respect, something Dong-ju never does. Now that Jong-hyun has won the match, he can join the team.

Dong-ju's cousin, Gyeong-il found dead inside the prison in Good Boy Episode 3

Following his confession about the accident, Gyeong-il is taken to the prosecutor, where he asks Gyeong-il if he was telling the truth. Still under Ju-young's pressure, Gyeong-il once again admits to the crime he never committed.

Later in the Good Boy episode, Dong-ju meets his cousin in prison and encourages him to speak the truth. However, Gyeong-il didn't tell anything to Dong-ju anything and walked away.

He then asked one of the officers about his attorney. The officer who has been keeping an eye on Gyeong-il is working for Min Ju-young and told him that Gyeong-il was asking about this lawyer.

After some time, Gyeong-il's dead body is found inside the prison with an apology note written with his blood. For everyone who witnessed the scene, Gyeong-il has committed suicide, but in reality, he was choked to death by the officer who has been working for Ju-young.

Devastated by his cousin’s death, Gyeong-il storms into Ju-young’s office and beats him up in a fit of rage. Surprisingly, Ju-young doesn’t press charges instead, he just asks Dong-ju for a handwritten book.

Han-na motivates Dong-ju and returns to her team of misfits in the Good Boy Episode 3

While Dong-ju is grappling with the loss of his cousin, Han-na is facing her own challenge. She resigned from the special task force after hitting the commissioner and decided not to turn back.

Flashbacks also revealed that Han-na was under pressure during her championship due to which she couldn't completely focus on the target and lost a gold medal in the 10-meter São Paulo 2018 championship. Not only this, she didn't even have a close bond with her mother, who was only concerned about endorsements and making money.

That’s why Han-na cut off her long hair to send a clear message to her mother that she won’t be used for money ever again. On her way home, Han-na almost passed out, but Dong-ju held her, just as he had when Han-na failed after losing the championship.

As the Good Boy Episode 3 nears its end, Han-na motivates Dong-ju to keep fighting and gives him the gold medal he previously sold at the pawn shop. Han-na also learned about the watch her father owned, which hints that he might have also been involved in illegal activities or was forced by a gang.

In the end, Han-na meets Man-sik and asks if she's too late to return to the team. Man-sik is incredibly happy to know she wants to come back, as he never processed her resignation letter. By the end of the episode, the entire team of misfits is all set to take down criminals, even if they have to take the wrong path to do what's right.
