The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 teaser trailer, released at Comic Con showed hinted that this season will do something different than the previous one: Switch POVs. For the uninitiated, switching POVs seems to suggest that the upcoming season will have multiple protagonists rather than just Percy. This is different from the first season because season 1 is mostly from Percy, Annabeth, and Grover's perspective.

Once they were out of Camp Half-Blood, we didn't know what happened in the camp once Percy, Annabeth, and Grover left it. But this time it seems different because the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 trailer seems to switch perspectives between Percy, Annabeth, Luke, Grover, and, more importantly, Dior Goodjohn's Clarisse La Rue.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 switching perspectives is different from the second book:

The trailer features four pivotal moments for the four characters. We see Luke poisoning Thalia's tree with his sword. Thalia is Zeus' illegitimate daughter, who, along with Grover, Luke, and a very young Annabeth trying to reach Camp Half-Blood. However, the four were ambushed by a monster just when they were close to the camp.

Thalia sacrifices herself by fighting the monster to ensure Luke, Grover, and Annabeth's survival. This sacrifice touched even Zeus, who turned Thalia into a magical tree. This is the tree that protects Camp Half-Blood from monsters. Poisoning the tree must have been difficult for Luke, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 has a chance to expand on that scene from the book.

Then, we also see Grover searching for Pan, the God of the wild. In the second book, we see Grover as a hostage to the cyclops Polyphemus. But it seems that the upcoming season will also show the situation leading to Grover's entrapment. But no character will have a whole new dimension to them than Clarisse La Rue, the daughter of Ares, played by actress Dior Goodjohn.

Dior Goodjohn's Clarisse was introduced in the first season as one of Percy's bullies. However, there's more to her than what the first book suggests. As Percy finally reaches Camp Half-Blood in the second book, The Sea of Monsters, it is being attacked by monsters. Leading the charge against the monsters is none other than Clarisse, suggesting a more heroic and nuanced side to her.

While she behaves antagonistically against Percy and Annabeth, it is suggested that Clarisse does care about the camp, giving this bully a more nuanced side. But the turning point of the book comes later, when we see her interact with Ares, where the God of War threatens. Percy witnesses this interaction, and he and every reader feel sympathy for her.

And since The Sea of Monsters, Clarisse goes on to become more and more heroic. Even author Rick Riordan hyped up her role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 to a fan during a Goodreads Q&A:

"I'm looking forward to everything about PJO season two! I've seen early cuts of the first two episodes now (without any post-production effects yet) and they are already amazing. One thing I really appreciate about season two is Clarisse LaRue being more of a major character, just as she is in the Sea of Monsters book. Dior Goodjohn has definitely brought her 'A game' to this season -- I can't wait for viewers to see her incredible work! Other TV shows we've been enjoying: Somebody Somewhere on Max, Skeleton Crew on Disney+, Brilliant Minds on Peacock, Shrinking on Apple -- just off the top of my head."

This possible change in perspectives might add more to Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 than the previous one, which had only one.
