The Boys, despite being a satire of superhero media and storylines, has plenty of its own clichés. One of these cliches is cameo appearances by well-known celebrities. This has been the case ever since the very first season, which streamed on Prime Video in July 2019. Thus, one of the exciting aspects of every season is the different celebrity cameos. One of these cameos was in the opening minutes of The Boys Season 3 premiere. The premiere episode of season 3 surprised fans as none other than Charlize Theron cameoed as a major antagonist from season 2 of the Prime Video series.Charlize Theron's The Boys cameo explained:The Seven are filming a movie titled Dawn of The Seven, in The Boys Season 2. Much like the real-life Justice League reshoots situation in 2017, the fake movie is undergoing reshoots by someone named "Joss" in the second season. However, the showrunners decided to pay a reference to the SnyderCut movement with its own version called #ReleaseTheBourkeCut.One of the heroes who was a part of Dawn Of The Seven was Stormfront, played by Aya Cash in season 2. However, The Boys successfully manage to out Stormfront as a N*zi to the public via the news in the season 2 finale. This is why the "Bourke Cut" changes the ending of the movie and makes Stormfront the big bad in the last act. Plus, she is recast as the real Stormfront is under care in the Vought tower after Ryan burned her with his heat vision.Which is why Charlize Theron plays Stormfront in the "Bourke Cut" in The Boys Season 3 premiere. Showrunner Eric Kripke addressed this cameo in a 2022 Entertainment Weekly interview:"The Charlize cameo came about by following our usual pattern of cameos, which is it's the rigorous screening process of whoever returns Seth Rogan's calls. I think she talked to Seth and [producing partner] Evan [Goldberg]. They had just made Long Shot together. She was so great. I mean, talk about the definition of an incredible sport. She's like, 'Yeah, I'll do a favor for you,' and it's like, 'Great, 'cause it's gonna involve a superhero costume fitting, coming out to see me in the Valley for a full day's shoot, and reading the most ridiculous N*zi dialogue ever with a straight face and totally nailing it. And she was game for all of it."What's next for the Prime Video superhero satire? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostIt must be noted that the Prime Video satire is a franchise in its own right, as there is already one spin-off, Gen V, that has had a two-season run, with the status of the third one is uncertain for now..
