"It’s up to the fans": Vincent D’Onofrio reveals the criteria through which Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 can become a reality

As the second season is under filming, Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio hinted at plans for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. It is worth noting that Born Again was renewed for a second season even before the first season began streaming on March 4, 2025. But since then, we haven't heard anything about the upcoming third season.

Now, D’Onofrio addressed the possibility of a third season in a recent podcast appearance. Recently, the actor sat down for an interview with the Awards Buzz podcast in which he explicitly touched on the possibility of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. The actor was asked about the future of the series in the overall MCU, to which D’Onofrio responded:

“If they allow us to continue, we have a plan. It’s up to the fans, to watch, to get excited. It’s up to us to please them and get the story right, but it’s all, yeah I mean we’re looking forward in a big way.”

The explanation of Vincent D’Onofrio’s comments is simple: if you want Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, make sure that you catch all episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 when it releases next year. Streaming, like television, relies on viewership numbers. Thus, if Disney feels that the second season, which is currently under production, then it might renew the series for a third season.

It is also imperative to note that Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, despite its critical and popular appreciation, didn't make it to the top of the streaming numbers, as reported in May 2025. Therefore, it makes sense that the studio might consider waiting for a while before giving a green light to Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. Moreover, considering the appearance of one of the Defenders, Born Again Season 2 might do better.

Krysten Ritter joining season 2 might help in increasing viewership numbers, ensuring Daredevil: Born Again Season 3:

Disney held a presentation at the upfront event on May 13, 2025. In that presentation, it was officially confirmed that Krysten Ritter, who played Jessica Jones in three seasons of the Netflix series between 2015 and 2019, is returning as the alcoholic super-powered PI in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. While sharing the stage with Charlie Cox, Ritter, expressing her happiness, said:

“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”

Furthermore, the internet is rife with fan theories stating that Born Again Season 2 will feature not only Jessica Jones but also Luke Cage and Iron Fist, which hasn't been confirmed as of now. Therefore, the second season might attract viewers who want to confirm whether Iron Fist and Luke Cage might appear in it. This is in turn, might convince the studio to green-light Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.
