Here are some of the key events from IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 4:

  • The photos don't work

The third episode, "Now You See It", ends on a more hopeful note as the kids develop a photo of the demonic entity haunting them. However, their efforts were for naught as the photos of the supernatural they developed appear different to the police. This event has the kids realize that the adults can't help them. Will also gets a lot of things right in the first few minutes of this episode.

Will theorizes that Pennywise wants his prey extremely scared so that they taste good to him. He also theorizes that Pennywise eats his prey, which, unknown to him, is true. Lilly comes up with a plan to stop herself and her friends from feeling fear. Lilly provides her mother's pills that help the latter deal with her anxiety.

  • Charlotte helps Hank

Charlotte Hanlon returns to her activism in this IT: Welcome to Derry episode. She learns about the Hank Grogon case and decides to help him. Initially stopped by the police to meet him, she gets permission from Hank's mother to meet him. We know that Hank was not at his home the night Teddy, Phil, and Susie died, but he has been quiet about where he was.

In this episode, we learn that Hank was with a married white woman that night. Fearing the repercussions of this truth coming out, Hank has been quiet. Meanwhile, Charlotte also discovers the photographs that the kids used to try to get Hank exonerated in her son's room. She decides to help Hank only after hearing from Will, but the boy doesn't tell her about the demonic entity. The same night, she suggests Leroy take Will fishing.

  • Will's fate is foreshadowed

Leroy takes Will for a fishing trip in a river in Derry. Leroy heads to the car to get more bait as Will is waiting in the river, which is where Pennywise attacks Will again. Pennywise almost drowns Will, where the boy sees a burnt version of Leroy tell him, "You'll burn too" (a reference to Will's dark future). While Will survives this ordeal, he does inform Leroy about something wrong with Derry.

As that happens, both see a red balloon floating in front of them. This experience prompts Leroy to visit Dick Hallorann.

  • Dick Hallorann has no idea about Pennywise

An angry Leroy asks Dick Hallorann what the secret weapon actually is. It seems that even the shiner can't explain what the entity is. This happens as the powerful psychich is setting up The Black Spot. Later that night, both Leroy and Will have another haunting experience. The young boy sees the silhouette of Pennywise, and Leroy considers another red balloon.

  • Marge has a haunting experience

Marge has been a conflicting character ever since the beginning of IT: Welcome to Derry. In this episode, she tries to extend her friendship to Lilly during a class presentation of worms, which she is spooked by. Later, during a break, she suggests that Lilly speak with a popular boy. This is a prank that Patty cakes convinces her to pull on Lilly.

However, Marge is also a bit conflicted about it as she tries to confess to Lilly about the prank in the washroom. As that happens, Marge's eyes bulge out like one of the worms in the documentary she just saw. She tries her best to undo the damage by trying to get rid of her eyes. Lilly stops Mage from stabbing her eye socket. But everyone walks in at the precise moment, making Lilly look guilty.

  • Pennywise's origin revealed

IT: Welcome to Derry revisits Pennywise's origin after 2019's It Chapter Two. Here, Dick Hallorann gets the same information by invading Rose's nephew Taniel's mind. Hallorann learns that the entity is of extraterritorial origin, and learns about the entity being caged by thirteen sacred shards that are made of the meteorite that was Pennywise's original prison.

The psychich also learns that Pennywise can be found inside the Well House in Neibolt Street. We also see the house, inside which the Losers Club would fight Pennywise in the 1980s in 2017's IT, in the last frame of this IT: Welcome to Derry episode.
