IT: Welcome to Derry is back to its regular airing schedule after the second episode streamed on Halloween. The third episode finally reveals what Dick Hallorann's powers look like, as the secondary plot focuses on the children trying their best to prove Ronnie's father, Hank Grogan's innocence. This involves the children taking their initiative to prove that the entity's (who would turn out to be Pennywise) existence.

"Now You See It", the third episode of Welcome to Derry, begins with a flashback to 1908 (i.e., the same year as the ironworks explosion). But surprisingly, the flashback does not depict the event, but rather sets up two important characters in the present, 1962 timeline, James Remar's General Francis Shaw and Kimberly Guerrero's Rose. The synopsis for IT: Welcome to Derry episode reads:

"As Leroy, Pauly, and Dick search for a new dig site, the kids attempt to get visual proof of the phenomena they've been experiencing."

Here are some of the major events in IT: Welcome to Derry episode 3, "Now You See It":

  • The 1908 flashback

This IT: Welcome to Derry episode begins with a flashback to 1908, as a young boy named Francis attends a fair. He walks into a tent with some scary people. He has a frightening encounter and runs out as his father tells him to toughen up. On their way back, the car breaks down, and Francis's father tells him to buy a bottle of water from a Native American girl nearby.

This encounter leads to a beautiful friendship between the young boy and the girl selling the water. Her name is Rose, and one afternoon, when they are playing, Francis runs into the forest, despite her warning not to do so. Francis encounters a new form of Pennywise, but Rose saves him. Now, an adult, Francis is trying to find the entity that haunted him as a child in 1962, as he lies to Rose about laying pipes on the Native American sacred grounds.

  • Dick Hallorann tracks Pennywise

This episode reveals why Hallorann enjoys special privileges in the US military. The first two episodes of IT: Welcome to Derry also alluded to tensions with the USSR (building towards the Cuban Missile Crisis). Thus, many believe that the US military will use Pennywise to fight its opponents. To track this "buried" entity, the US government is using Dick Hallorann's psychic abilities.

Hallorann's vision takes him to Pennywise's lair under Derry's sewers, where we learn that Pennywise is aware that the military is looking for him. Pennywise almost succeeds in killing Hallorann by making him jump off the plane, but Leroy Hanlon saves him. Hallorann warns General Shaw that they are not looking for the entity, but rather it is looking for them. But it seems that this warning might not be taken seriously.

After their weird experience, Hanlon invites Dick Hallorann to his house for dinner. Hallorann asks Leroy where his son is, to which he responds, saying that Will is at a friend's place. After a while, as Leroy and Dick are alone, the former asks how the latter knew Will's name he never mentioned him. Dick is initially lying, but comes clean about his "shine" powers.

Hanlon surprisingly accepts Hallorann's abilities, and this is where the show plants the idea that he might also have some of Dick's "Shining" powers. As for Will:

  • The kids try to prove Pennywise's abilities

As his father is part of the team trying to use Pennywise to unleash on the USSR, Will, Rich, Ronnie, and Lilly try to prove the entity's existence to exonerate Hank, who has been accused of killing. They try to do so using a photograph and decide to use Rich's ritual to summon the entity in a graveyard.

Initially, they believe the ritual did not work, but are soon haunted by Pennywise in the ghostly forms of Teddy and Susie. But the group manages to capture the pictures of these ghosts and develop them. The group also manages to develop the image of the entity in the clown form, which was captured by Will during his encounter. The third IT: Welcome to Derry episode ends with the group looking at the clown form of Pennywise.
