Cote de Pablo, who will appear in NCIS: Tony & Ziva, a spinoff series of NCIS, is another actress on the list of Hollywood names who have refused to use an intimacy coordinator on their shows. The procedural drama is set to premiere on September 4, 2025, focusing on the lives of Tony and Ziva.

In a recent interview with TVInsider, de Pablo shared that she was asked if she needed an intimacy coordinator, but she rejected the offer. She said:

"Did not need one. They asked me first, I think because I’m a female and blah, blah, blah, and I said, ‘I don’t need one. Thank you for offering."

Other than the trust the actors have built over the years, de Pablo also shared that they did not want to be too much controlled, as the reason for her refusal.

More on this in our story.

Cote de Pablo of NCIS: Tony & Ziva comments on why she passed on intimacy coordinator

The new NCIS spinoff, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, will narrate the story of Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva, after she was thought to be dead, but will return while Tony raises their daughter alone. While their relationship remains complicated, they will still come back together for a new case when Tony’s company gets under attack.

As mentioned, de Pablo recently gained attention after she revealed that she rejected the offer to use an intimacy coordinator. She told TVInsider that after years of working together, Weatherly and she have grown to trust each other, and there wasn’t a need for an intimacy coordinator.

She shared:

"Michael and I have a lot of trust with each other and are great friends. So, when it comes to shooting these things, we don’t want to be micromanaged."

She continued:

"We like to explore it, and we trust each other enough that we allow that to happen."

Michael Weatherly, who will reprise his role as Tony in NCIS: Tony & Ziva, also shared that when he was asked, he agreed to whatever de Pablo wanted and also talked about the trust that they had built, making those scenes easier to work with each other. He stated:

"I said, ‘Whatever Cote wants.’ Love scenes are complicated because that level of nonverbal communication — you kiss someone the way you want to be kissed or you touch someone the way you want to be touched — that is a deep level of communication."

He further added:

"Physical interaction starts with trust. Luckily, Cote and I do not have an issue in that area. We had to do that right out of the gate in [NCIS‘s ‘Under Covers’] episode."

The latest series, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, will reunite the duo with a brand new, exciting story that will be packed with action and drama, and will also star Isla Gie, James D'Arcy, Emmanuel Bonami, and Shadow and Bone’s Amita Suman, among others.
