Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is almost upon us as the two-episode premiere releases on Wednesday at midnight. The upcoming season is adapting the second book, The Sea of Monsters, published twenty years ago in 2006. If the show follows the book, we will see Percy travel to the mysterious Sea of Monsters.

"When Thalia’s tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magic item powerful to save the camp before it is overrun by monsters. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover, and he learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse."

Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson)

Scobell is back as the titular protagonist after his first stint as the character in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1. Season 1 ended with Percy, Grover, and Annabeth going their separate ways after discovering Luke's betrayal. He is back to living with his mother in the finale. At the start of season 2, Percy is in a new school, Meriwether College Prep.

Walker Scobell is best known for being the younger version of Ryan Reynolds' character in 2022's The Adam Project.

Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase)

Empire and Beast's Leah Jeffries appeared as Annabeth, the goddess of Wisdom and War and Athena's daughter, in season 1. Considering Annabeth is one of Percy's allies in The Sea of Monsters, the actor and character's return in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.

Daniel Diemer (Tyson)

Tyson is introduced in The Sea of Monsters as one of Percy's classmates in Meriwether. However, the book reveals a deeper connection with Percy, something we know season 2 is adapting.

Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue)

Glee and Are You Afraid of the Dark?'s Dior Goodjohn is returning as Ares' daughter Clarisse La Rue. Clarisse did not have a major role in season 1, but she is one of the main characters in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, like in the book. Fans thought that Clarisse was going to follow the archetypal bully trope when they first met her in 2005's The Lightning Thief.

However, Rick Riordan shocked everyone by revealing more to her than just a bully right in the second book, The Sea of Monsters. The author even hyped up Dior Goodjohn's role in the second season, early this year:

"I'm looking forward to everything about PJO season two! I've seen early cuts of the first two episodes now (without any post-production effects yet) and they are already amazing. One thing I really appreciate about season two is Clarisse LaRue being more of a major character, just as she is in the Sea of Monsters book. Dior Goodjohn has definitely brought her 'A game' to this season -- I can't wait for viewers to see her incredible work!"

Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood)

The season 2 trailer already revealed Grover as a hostage. If the show follows the book closely, the Satyr is likely the Cyclops Polyphemus' hostage. Apart from Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, fans also saw Aryan Simhadri earlier this year in Freakier Friday.

Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan)

Diary of a Future President's Charlie Bushnell made his debut as Luke Castellan in season 1. Son of Hermes, Luke is one of the most complex characters in the Percy Jackson lore. As mentioned earlier, Luke is revealed as the lightning thief in the season 1 finale. Even in the book, he is the villain who got away.

But despite that, Luke is given a tragic backstory, and his reasons for hating the Gods are legitimate. Thus, the upcoming seasons will further flesh out the character's tragic backstory.
