Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Episode 6 recap: Polyphemus vs Nobody

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Episode 6 pays homage to Homer's Odyssey. Everything Percy and Annabeth went through led to this episode, but they need to be careful, as they are walking into a trap. The previous episode reveals that Percy and Annabeth are in danger as Polyphemus is not as dumb as the heroes initially believe him to be.

Therefore, the latest Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 episode, "Nobody Gets the Fleece", sees Percy and Annabeth trying their best to rescue Grover and Clarisse from the cyclops's cave.

Here are some of the major events in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Episode 6:

• Tyson is alive

The opening minutes of this Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 episode don't have any dialogue. It opens with Tyson under the water as he sinks to the bottom of the ocean after Clarisse's ship exploded in the fourth episode. He finds the bracelet Annabeth threw in "Clarisse Blows Up Everything". Something bright glows in front of his face, and the scene then cuts to Percy.

He is in the camp and sees himself surrounded by the bodies of young demigods. The cloaked and hooded "Kronos" walks into the room and shoots lightning at Percy, waking him up from the dream. He informs Annabeth about this dream and says that the hooded figure wasn't Kronos but rather Thalia. He is behoved by the dream to prepone their Polyphemus plan.

However, Annabeth persuades him to stick to the strategy they formulated.

• The duo finally reaches Polyphemus's island

They kick off the plan to disguise themselves as sheep to reach the cave rescue Grover by climbing into the cave with a rope, helping Grover climb upwards, and taking the fleece. Percy, upon reaching the cave, realizes that Clarisse is also a hostage. Despite that, Percy and Annabeth stick to the plan, but something is off, and we soon learn what's wrong.

Turns out, the "fleece" we see on the tree atop the cave is fake, as golden paint is coming off it. Annabeth sees Polyphemus running towards the cave. Using her quick wits, Annabeth wears the Yankees cap, which makes her invisible, and begins to taunt the cyclops. She hits a nerve by bringing up the way Odysseus tricked Polyphemus into jabbing himself in the eye.

• Luke enters the island

Earlier in the episode, Luke contacts Annabeth using the IRIS messaging on Polyphemus's island as she is getting ready for the mission. But Percy interrupts this conversation, and they begin the mission. Now, Luke enters the island with the help of his sword, Backbiter, and sees Annabeth and the cyclops fighting. Luke is almost fooled by the fake fleece, but soon realizes the ruse.

Meanwhile, Grover finds the fleece inside the cave as he, Percy, and Clarisse try to open the cave's door. Polyphemus is about to trap the three inside the cave as an invisible Annabeth tries to incapacitate him. But the Cyclops swats her against the wall. As Polyphemus walks towards an unconscious Annabeth, Tyson tries to talk sense into the cunning cyclops. But they fight and fall into the sea below.

Luke reaches the door, and Percy initially threatens him, but the former informs Percy that Annabeth is dying.

• Percy makes an emotional choice

Percy wants to hand over the fleece to Luke to heal Annabeth, while Clarisse is hesitant. Grover tries to convince Clarisse, but Percy takes the fleece off her hands and hands it over to Luke. He drapes the fleece over Annabeth and takes her with him. As Percy, Clarisse, and Grover are stuck inside the cave, Tyson comes in and frees them.

As the four wonder how to follow Luke to retrieve the fleece and rescue Annabeth, Tyson reveals to them the hippocampi that helped him reach the island, bringing this Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 episode to a close.
