Queen Mantis Episode 4 recap: Soo-yeol’s team doubts his abilities

Like previous episodes, Episode 4 of Queen Mantis also opens with a flashback and takes us back to 2001. Jung-ho stops a man from beating his wife and tells her to contact her if she is in danger. A young Yi-shin sees everything from afar. Later, the abusive husband is found dead in a public bath.

In the present, Na-hee and Seong-gyu discuss how Soo-yeol always finds the right clues, such as finding the first victim in the well or looking for Tae-seok in a specific hospital, which does not seem like a coincidence to them. As a result, Na-hee decides to meet Gu-wan without informing Soo-yeol.

Elsewhere, Soo-yeol meets his grandfather to talk about his father's death, who was revealed to be Yi-shin's first victim in the previous episode. His grandfather confesses to him that he knew his father did not treat Yi-shin well and had seen her dispose of his father’s body that night, but never reported it.

Soo-yeol tells him that if he had reported her to the police, all the other orders would not have taken place, and he would not have to live with the guilt of being the son of a serial killer.

Queen Mantis Episode 4 recap: Park Min-jae becomes the new suspect

In Episode 4 of Queen Mantis, Jung-yeon and Seo Ara go to Soo-yeol’s abandoned family home. There, they meet Park Min-jae, the boy who claimed that he grew up with Soo-yeol and spent most of his time in his house due to his drunk and abusive father.

Elsewhere, Yi-shin also tells Soo-yeol about Min-jae seeing her killing her husband. Min-jae later tags along with Jung-yeon and comes to their home. He meets Soo-yeol, who asks Jung-ho to look into Min-jae. Through his car’s black box, Soo-yeol learns that Min-jae had been stalking him and his wife.

He discovers that Min-jae is a private instructor, and as he visits the vehicle storage where Min-jae secretly works, he finds 3-D models of all the murder sites. After a tussle between the duo, he brings Min-jae for questioning. Soo-yeol questions him about his whereabouts during the murders, which Min-jae tries to prove.

Just like Gu-wan, Min-jae is also fond of Yi-shin, whom he calls his mother, as he took care of him when he was abused and neglected by his drunk father.
