It happens in the third act of the episode that focuses on the three trying to pull off another robbery. But this robbery goes wrong, and the occupants of the drug house fight back. While they are unable to find the drug money, as Cliff and Robbie are about to leave, they are faced with a moral dilemma.

What happens in the first episode?
The first episode of the HBO series, Crossings, was quite eventful. It mainly introduced Tom Pelphrey's Robbie Prendergast and Ruffalo's Tom. Both seem to have a lot in common, as they are single fathers caring for their kids. They could have been good friends if not for being on opposite sides of the law.
The majority of the first episode is about introducing the characters and setting up the world of the series. We see how Robbie and Cliff choose drug houses to rob and how they do it. It is the final act of the episode that establishes the rest of the series. The promo for the upcoming episodes of Task teases the Dark Hearts (the gang Robbie robbed) looking to avenge their robbery.
As that happens, Tom and his team are trying to find Sam. Speaking of which, series creator Brad Ingelsby discussed the final minutes of the episode that shows Robbie and Cliff taking Sam to the former's house in a Variety interview.
"We wanted to end with that haunting shot where you think, “What’s going on in that house right now?” We wanted to leave the audience with the door closing and have them going, “Oh my God.” We need them to have an unsettled quality when the credits roll."
Ingelsby confirms that this miniseries is in the same universe as Mare of Easttown:
Brad Ingelsby, in the same Variety interview, confirmed that the Mark Ruffalo-led miniseries takes place in the same universe as Mare of Easttown. He also explained that, even though they share the same universe, their stories are different. Here's what he told Variety:
"Absolutely. We wanted to embrace that. We never said, “Let’s try to make it not like ‘Mare.'” In fact, a lot of the same crew from “Mare” worked on this show, because we wanted there to be a consistency, and we wanted the audience to watch the show and think, “This is ‘Mare’s’ world, but the story is different.”"
