The Boys Season 5 will conclude the popular Prime Video dark superhero satire that began in 2019. The marketing campaign for the final season of the Prime Video series is in full swing, as the cast and crew are also scheduled for a panel at the CCXP this weekend. However, Karl Urban appeared at the FAN EXPO San Francisco panel moderated by Joe Deckelmeier, a ScreenRant reporter.

Urban teased what can expect from the upcoming season. When Deckelmeier asked Karl Urban what the latter can tease about the final season, the actor revealed two interesting aspects: the main storyline of the final season will kick off early in the series, and the season 5 premiere might feature a major death. The Boys actor's exact words were:

“I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be, I think the real thing to look out for in season 5 on an emotional level, as far as the characters go, and your attachments to characters, there’s going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode. That’s probably what is going to make you realize, “Oh, this s**t is for real.” The stakes couldn’t be higher, and anybody’s fair game”

What do Karl Urban's words mean for The Boys' final season?

The Prime Video series is known for its shocking and gruesome violence. Thus, it seems that the final season set off its main plot right in the introductory episode with a shocking death. This revelation is not surprising because the season 4 finale set up a dark final season, as Homelander is the most powerful man in the US.

The closing minutes of The Boys Season 4 finale make Homelander the most powerful man in the US despite not being the president. He has rounded up all of his enemies, except for Billy Butcher, Starlight, and A-Train. Except for the three, Mother's Milk, Frenchie, Kimiko, and Hughie are all abducted by Homelander's forces.

Urban did not confirm if the character deaths in the season 5 premiere would be those of the protagonists or the antagonists. But Karl Urban confirmed one thing that has fans excited for The Boys Season 5.

"We can say, obviously, Jensen [Ackles] it was great to have him back. And it was fun to sort of get the opportunity to have the Supernatural guys sort of roll through and do their thing. And there's going to be a few great cameos that I don't even think have been announced yet. So yeah, it was fun. You know, we're all very grateful, and I think [Eric] Kripke is, he's a wonderful collaborator to work with. And if he likes working with you, then he will go out of his way to find an opportunity to work with you again. And I guess, you know, we all feel part of that big family."

What is season 5 about?

As of now, we don't have any details regarding The Boys' final season, but we know that it will see the good guys trying to bring down Homelander's brutal regime. It seems Eric Kripke would have looked at the current events to incorporate into the dark superhero satire, which is also known for being overtly political. But the one storyline people are excited for is that of Billy Butcher's.

Butcher walked a thin line between good and evil until the season 4 finale. However, Billy killing Victoria Neuman resulted in Butcher's allies abandoning him. In the closing minutes of The Boys Season 4 finale, Butcher is on his way to enact a devastating plan all alone as he has the virus lethal to the supes, introduced in Gen V Season 1.

Kripke teased Billy Butcher's arc in a TV Insider interview early this year:

“Is he a man or a monster? And does he have to turn himself into a monster in order to defeat Homelander? And is there any part of him left that’s still human? I think what you’re asking is the big question of the series, and so I don’t want to give that away. It’s a big concern. In many ways, it’s a show about humanity and how power, vengeance, and violence take it away. And so, how are you able to hold onto it? And we’ll just have to see. At the end of Season 4, there’s no question that the monster wins, but we’ll have to see where that goes in Season 5.”

The Boys Season 5 doesn't have a release date, but we may get more details this weekend at the CCXP.
