One of the funniest bits in Peacemaker Season 2 in Episode 2, involves Tim Meadows' Langston Fleury. We meet him for the first time in the second episode as one of the A.R.G.U.S. agents working under Rick Flag Sr. It is revealed that Fleury lives with a condition called "bird blindness", which he reveals to John Economos. Langston explains to Economos that he has trouble identifying one species of avian life from another.

While it is written as a comedy bit, there is a bit of real-world inspiration behind the "bird blindness" bit. Some believe that Gunn might've taken inspiration from a medical condition referred to as "visual agnosia". While the Peacemaker Season 2 episode exaggerates a bit, what Fleury describes in the episode might hint at visual agnosia.

As mentioned earlier, a lot of fans are drawing parallels between Peacemaker Season 2's Langston Fleury's "bird blindness" and visual agnosia. Cleveland Clinic defines visual agnosia as:

"Visual agnosia is a condition that disrupts your brain’s ability to process and understand what you see with your eyes. There are several different forms of visual agnosia, with a wide range of effects on your ability to see the world around you."

Some of the different types of visual agnosia are amusia, balint syndrome, environmental agnosia, simultanagnosia, achromatopsia, and form agnosia. All these forms of visual agnosia affect someone's ability to read and perceive the world around them.

However, showrunner James Gunn also revealed the inspiration behind Langston Fleury's bird blindness in Peacemaker: The Official Podcast with James Gunn. This episode of the podcast was released right after the second episode was released on HBO Max. In that episode, Gunn revealed that the idea behind Fleury's condition came from a friend of his who had trouble remembering people's faces.

However, it should be noted that, as of now, it hasn't been confirmed whether Fleury's condition is a medical condition or not. However, before viewers feel bad for him, the episode also makes him one of the rudest people in the series.

Who is season 2's Langston Fleury?

As mentioned earlier, we are introduced to him in the second episode of season 2, A Man Is Only as Good as His Bird. Right after meeting Economos, Fleury took the former's snack without his permission. In the May 2025 Entertainment Weekly interview, Gunn revealed that Peacemaker Season 2's Langston Fleury is very much like Christopher Smith/Peacemaker in the first season.

Revealing that Chris has grown this season, James Gunn said:

"In a lot of ways, Peacemaker has changed a lot this season. He's a much softer guy, he's a much nicer guy, he's less in your face and less obnoxious and less aggressive. He has changed as a human being, so Langston Fleury actually takes up a lot of being a total asshole in the same way Peacemaker was [last season]. He's a very politically incorrect asshole throughout most of the season, and also an incredibly funny guy."
