Peacemaker Season 2 sees James Gunn bring back a frequent collaborator, Michael Rooker. This time, Rooker is playing the role of Red St. Wild, described as one of the world's best eagle hunters. A.R.G.U.S. hires him to take down Eagly, as the bald eagle proved to be quite a challenge in the second episode, as it attacked the entire A.R.G.U.S. team as the latter tried to investigate Chris's QUC portal when he was out of the home.
This attack made the entire A.R.G.U.S. team realize that they couldn't investigate Chris's QUC door until Eagly was dealt with. This is why Michael Rooker's Red St. Wild enters the picture in Peacemaker Season 2. He has been described as Eagly's antagonist, meaning the bald eagle might be a secondary protagonist of this season.
Peacemaker Season 2's Michael Rooker role explained:
We meet Red St. Wild for the first time in Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 3, Another Rick Up My Sleeve. In that episode, we see him join the A.R.G.U.S. team that needs him for his eagle-hunting skills. There is a humorous scene in this movie where the hunter ascertains what Eagly ate by tasting the bird's droppings. In the next few scenes, as he is about to hunt down Eagly, John Economos steps up and knocks the hunter down.
After St. Wild wakes up, John lies to him, and he buys it. He also tells John that Eagly is the "Prime Eagle", meaning that killing the bird would supposedly wash away the injustices against the Native Americans of the US. While most of the episode paints a picture that Red St. Wild might be a bit of a fraud, the closing minutes of the fourth episode of Peacemaker Season 2 push the storyline in interesting ways.
That's because the closing minutes of season 2 episode 4 introduce magic to the DCU. Red St. Wild performs a ritual that looks morally questionable as he performs in a Native American costume. But suddenly, he is surrounded by magical blue fire. This means that the character is powered by magic. This moment has some fans hoping to learn more about the magical side of the DCU.
James Gunn described Red St. Wild as Eagly's nemesis:
James Gunn and John Cena sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly in May 2025. In that interview, Gunn and John Cena addressed a lot of aspects of the ongoing Peacemaker Season 2. Discussing Eagly this season, Gunn made a surprising revelation that Eagly will have a nemesis this season. The said personal antagonists will be the eagle hunter Red St. Wild, played by actor Michael Rooker:
"His name is Red St. Wild, and he's the world's foremost eagle hunter who is on a mission to kill Eagly. We thought Eagly was probably the most popular character from season 1, and so in season 2, he has his own story with his nemesis, played by none other than the despicable Michael Rooker."
In the same interview, Gunn also teased a surprise cameo in one of the last three episodes of the second season:
"You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2... We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."
Enjoy Michael Rooker's hilarious turn as the eagle hunter Red St. Wild in Peacemaker Season 2, which is accessible via HBO Max.
