Dexter: Resurrection has brought the titular serial killer back to the television screens. Dexter Morgan has once again given in to his violent urges and has started targeting some dangerous killers.
Apart from bringing back some familiar faces, the mystery crime drama has also introduced some new characters, who have intrigued the audience. One of them is Mia LaPierre, played by Krysten Ritter.
Mia is a serial killer in Dexter: Resurrection, who meets the lead at Leon Prater’s party. The two form an instant connection, as Dexter thinks she also follows a protocol while choosing her target, just like him. However, Mia’s journey ends in the show soon after she is arrested and later killed off in prison.
Dexter: Resurrection - Who is Mia LaPierre?
Mia Lapierre, who goes by the name Lady Vengeance, is a serial killer who is introduced in Dexter: Resurrection Season 1, Episode 4. She is a part of the serial killer group that is invited by Leon Prater for a private party.
She initially claims that she only kills sexual predators for personal reasons, as years ago, her younger sister was attacked by one of their mom’s boyfriends, and Mia killed him. The moment turned her into someone who takes justice into her own hands.
Dexter then becomes more curious about Mia. She seems like a killer who follows a code, much like him, and her targets fit his moral rules. When they hunt together in Central Park, they bond over having violent urges since they were young. Mia appears to be someone who understands Dexter without judgment.
But things change when she tells him her truth during a wine date in Dexter: Resurrection Season 1, Episode 5. She admits that she not only kills se*ual predators but anyone if she feels like it. For Dexter, this crosses a line, as his code says never kill the innocent.
Dexter decides she has to be stopped. Killing her would be too dangerous, so he sets her up instead. When Mia lures a drunk man home to kill him, Dexter calls the police before. Mia is hence arrested and taken to prison. Leon Prater then sees her as a problem and wants her gone. His enforcer, Charley, visits her and tells her that she will have a short time in jail.
However, her time is cut short not because she gets freed, but because she is killed in her cell. Meanwhile, Charley bribes the prison guard to make her death seem like a suicide. Thus, Mia’s journey comes to an end in Dexter: Resurrection, but she is able to leave a lasting impact on the audience.
Krysten Ritter, who played the role, talked about her character in an interview with Deadline and revealed that she loved how her personality changed over the course of the season. She said:
“I just loved how deranged and psychotic she turns out to be. She starts off very cool and deliberate, and then when she and Dexter warm up, it’s kind of very sexy and electric. But it turns out that she’s a bad guy, and that’s not gonna go well.”
Dexter: Resurrection airs new episodes on Paramount+ with Showtime on Fridays.
