Terry Crews has been an America's Got Talent staple for the longest time and, given that, knows the format well. Four judges are on the panel for the contestants, including Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Mel B, and Howie Mandel.
However, according to Terry, one addition to this list would enhance the charm of America's Got Talent.
Terry Crews has been hosting the talent show since 2019. He used to be a professional football player turned actor and is now 56 years old.
Talking to People Magazine about his thoughts and whether or not he will ever be a judge on the panel, Terry denied the assumption. He said that he feels better as a host and his duty as a "bodyguard" for the talent that comes in.
Although he does know someone who would make a great addition as a fifth panel member on America's Got Talent. He said,
"I think Chris Rock would be a great judge. He knows funny, but he knows entertainment."
Will Terry Crews ever judge America's Got Talent?
Terry Crews is a fan favorite on America's Got Talent, and he is currently serving as a host. However, even if opportunity presents itself, he says he will not take it. When asked about his preference, he said,
"That's not my thing. I mean, I am 100% the bodyguard of talent because when I look at all the people that come through here, they just remind me of me."
Terry recalled when he first came to LA and how it felt to him to have just one shot in the industry to make it big. He says when he sees the talent come in, with the same light of hope in their eyes, he sees himself. Thus, he does not think that judging is something he can do.
Explaining it all, the host said,
"I remember just sitting in Michigan praying one day if I get my shot to come out to L.A. and make it happen, and they remind me of everything that I've been through. So I protect it and I watch them."
Terry thinks of his role as a host to be more of a supporter. No matter what happens on stage, he feels he is always at the back of it, standing and supporting the contestants who have come in. He says he loves the task and takes pride in the same.
Terry said,
"I'm the counselor when they go on. I give them all the good advice when they come off. If it didn't go well, I console them. So I love that."
It is no news that Terry Crews loves America's Got Talent. He has previously mentioned how this has been a "dream gig" for him with the exposure it gives. Putting it simply, he asked where else would one go where the whole world is watching?
